I think it could be good if they left baby bruce/catwoman out of it or have bruce for like the 1st episode only

wouldnt mind seeing younger versions of some of batmans villains though but not the cartoony/flamboyant ones like they showed in the trailer :okay: more along the lines of say the early days of Victor Zsasz

Fox does have a habit of cancelling a lot of shows. While some were justified, others weren't.

Let's see...

Futurama
Almost Human
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Firefly
Sarah Conner Chronicles
Fringe
etc
etc

I know I'm missing some and that it's not a Fox exclusive thing... It's just that they seem to have a habit of doing it more often than most other networks.

Fuckin' rights!! HBO, SuperChannel, Cinemax, MovieCentral, etc need to do Gotham. NBC/ABC shows are too, I dunno, gay as fuck(besides, LOST; which was good for 2 seasons tops). I'd love to have high hopes but I don't think the network will do "Gotham" justice after Nolan's trilogy.

Network shows can be good... They just have annoying issues that keep them from being great.

I just think that network shows have restrictions in terms of the, say, raciness of the show. Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. ain't no StrikeBack. There's always that level of "cheese" with network stuff.

All those shows pretty much had horrid ratings and low ad buy rates by advertisers, so really not surprised by Fox cancelling those. Of those above, Fringe was an interesting case in our biz, while live ratings where bad, the + DVR ratings were good, but hard to pitch to advertisers with low live viewing rates and only so much in-show sponsorship space, being on the WB end, we produced the show but sold airing rights to Fox, we weren't shocked when Fox pulled it from their schedule and with those ratings numbers, no other network was interested in making space on their schedule. I understand it sucks for fans, I was a big fan of Gang Related and Fox canned that, but really hard to justify the numbers.

Caught Gotham, thought it was ok, Bruce Wayne parts were annoying, I think its the kid actor that annoyed me. Gotham is another WB produced show picked up by Fox, hopefully it'll have a better fate than Fringe.

I don't care for any of the kids in this show but Ben Mckenzie is playing a pretty good Gordon and I like it.

Also Falcone was pronounced different from the movies just like Ra's Al Ghul's name.

StylinRed
09-24-2014, 04:18 AM
Was pretty good but I hate all the young versions of the villains that seem to be thrown in there just because, i get its a pilot and they probably felt they needed to but ugh made it seem a bit cheesy

and i am so far not a fan of Alfred, i like Sean Pertwee but not as Alfred nor how he portrays him a bit too thuggish

The actor for Bullock is cool too but I don't like that he was partnered up with Gordon right away there's a cool story line with Gordons first partner that they borrowed for the pilot and it'd work better if it wasn't Bullock imo but that's just me being a bit too picky

I can't buy into "Ryan from the OC" or Alfred's character. I really dig the cinematography and sets though. More gritty than I would have expected so that is a plus. I'd say the casting is the only thing that suffers at this point. Will keep watching though.

The young cat woman was annoying me. I think there was this scene where she was perched on a gravestone. Like get the hell off there. That's some dead guy's memorial you're standing on. I'm just nitpicking. I just can't get into network television.

Interesting about the "Joker" stand-up comedian guy. Didn't catch that reference the first time around.

I couldn't quite tell the era of the setting. Is it modern day? Or is it supposed to be the "past"? Like the 60's or 70's or something?

You'd think so but since I didn't see any reference points(cars, media, social markings, etc) it's hard to tell. Also, since there have been several versions of Batman in the movies throughout the years it's hard to tell when "back in the day" would be.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Gotham is trying to be a prequel of any Batman movie?

I think they're just "showing" the early years of the characters when they were younger.

^ It makes sense. There's never been a "set time period" for Batman; it's always evolved with the real world. I'm assuming that based on the vehicles and settings, it's based around the "mid to late 80's", but with modern day technology as well.

You're totally right. They have done a great job to ensure that it is viewed that way as well. Now I'm pretty into it. Once I started viewing it as fantasy instead of how it relates to real life it got way better. I have warmed up to McKenzie as Gordon. Definitely has potential to be a good show. Now that I'm into it I'm afraid it'll get cancelled. LOL!

well in the comic iirc Alfred was an actor in a troupe but he was also an SAS agent or MI5 something like that

other than that everything else seems to be new as for teaching bruce to fight he doesn't teach him all his batman skills just like what a dad teaches a kid to defend himself is all

Really hope this doesn't get cancelled. Its really good so far and getting better every episode.

i am certain there will be a season 2, but there may be problems with how fox increased their order for season 1 from 16 to 22 episodes because many of their other shows are not doing well and they need gotham to keep their numbers up. the show producers did not plan to go past 16 episodes, so right now they are trying to throw something together for the additional 6 which should have been for season 2 and there is a risk of them ending up being half-baked :(

It got renewed for season 2

'Empire,' 'Gotham,' 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Renewed at Fox - The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/empire-gotham-brooklyn-nine-nine-764534)

Fox jumped on the TCA renewal train Saturday.

The network used its executive session to hand out early 2015-16 pickups to freshman dramas Empire and Gotham as well as a third run for comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Empire has become Fox's breakout hit after only two episodes. The 20th Century Fox Television drama from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong has emerged as the No. 1 new series of the season. Following its second episode, it is the only new broadcast drama this season to grow from week one to week two. In live-plus-same-day returns, it tied ABC's How to Get Away With Murder as the No. 1 new broadcast series premiere among adults 18-49. Starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the hip-hop Dynasty has more VOD viewing than any other Fox show this season, earning more than 1.1 million total viewers.

See more Faces of Fall 2014

Warner Bros. Television's Batman prequel Gotham, meanwhile, is averaging a 4.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.6 million viewers. It ranks as the season's No. 1 broadcast drama overall among men 18-49 and men 18-34. Its series premiere —6.0 in the advertiser-coveted demo — outperformed The Blacklist and Scorpion and delivered Fox's highest-rated fall drama debut in 14 years. The live-plus-seven rating for the Ben McKenzie DC Comics adaptation from Bruno Heller reflects the largest post-three-day ratings gain (+0.9) of any broadcast drama ever.

Comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg and from Parks and Recreation producers Dan Goor and Mike Schur, hails from Universal Television and is averaging a 2.7 among adults 18-49 — up 17 percent year-over-year and posting the largest demo uptick among second-year shows. Its renewal guarantees that Schur and Goor will have one series on the broadcast networks next season after NBC's Parks and Recreation signs off this spring.

Empire, Brooklyn and Gotham join previously renewed animated series for the 2015-16 broadcast season Bob's Burgers, Family Guy andThe Simpsons and mark the network's first scripted pickups. They join Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's horror comedy anthology Scream Queens, which was picked up straight-to-series last year.

The renewals — one from all of the big studios — come after CBS and The CW announced multiple renewals for 2015-16 during their TCA sessions earlier in the week.

Another great episode. I liked Dr. Crane's character. Removing the fear gland to make his potion(I assume that's what he's doing) can make for good future episodes. Fish and the guy at the end. Friend or foe? I bet they run into each others arms next week.

in my opinion that was a pretty shitty finale.

why was cat girl there? she sees some creepy dude looking black chic telling her it isn't the morning and all of a sudden she is a gangster?

Falcone endured more and stuck around, why would he get so scared because maroney got killed? Shit, Falcone had to choke a bitch before and he didn't leave, and it was someone he thought he loved. Not like Fish had a strong established crew. If anything, the city is more ready for him to stay and for him to have more power as the only other real power player is done.

A lot of the dialogue was cringe-worthy. Took away from it for me. "I'm the King of Gotham" ... really?

Cool parts for me were Barbara (More or less because I didn't see it playing out how it did. Figured she'd go nuts but not in that direction), Nygma finally going nuts, I think the way he tipped over the edge was stupid, but worked because you can tie in his act with it and not just hot slut girl figuring his game out.

I still like the show, I just feel like they're trying to cram too much shit in before it gets cancelled whenever it does.

It's funny how Barbara is Jim's ex when Barbara is Jim's daughter in almost every iteration of the animated Batman, who eventually becomes bat girl, who also eventually becomes the commissioner, who also wants to take down Terry and Bruce in the future.

Let's not forget that Barbara was Alfred's niece named Barbara Wilson who also became Batgirl.

I've given up on DC's character histories and chronology and just consider every character a rewrite. The only thing that was ever consistent with the Batman universe is that Bruce's parents aren't gonna make it to Thanksgiving dinner ever again.

She's literally ignoring all the creepy shit Nygma has done and the creepy place he's living at and is having sexy time with him now. Like, the hints that Nygma drops aren't subtle in any way that he fucking murdered her ex. It's like the most recent episode forgot season 1 ever existed.

The episode was filled with so much military viagra. Gordon and the new commissioner sporting boners for each other.

Why did the new commissioner not bust Harvey? He is as corrupt as cops get and probably has a file 6 times the thickness of those who got fired for corruption. Bullock was super cozy with Fish.

The most recent episode with the arsonists. WTF, did reverse Michael Bay direct this? First, a guy has a rocket launcher firing into a room and no one was hurt. Seriously, if I learned anything from quake, anything within a 10 foot radius should be half dead.

Also, I don't care if a explosives shop pays off the right people to operate, but how the fuck do you have bricks of C4 just on sale with a PA announcing specials like a damn home depot?

Those pyro guys, why would they listen to some little kid who's only been with Fish for like 2 days listen to her if they were Loyal only to Fish? What the fuck? She shows up with the guy who fucking shot and lead to the murder of Fish and yet they will listen to their job request?

So is corrupt Harvey now also part of Strike-Force and he's second in command to Gordon? Again, Harvey is pretty corrupt and yet he's still taking part under the nose of commissioner hard-ass as his pet team of sub-swat, new police grads.

Is it just me, or was this episode ridiculous? I hope this isn't how the show is going to continue to head, they're killing off great characters and adding in these typical quest-for-domination villains. I am really starting to miss Maroni and Falcone.

Everything seemed so unprofessionally done from this episode.
