Hey guys, another one of these threads, I'm looking for the best bang for the buck under $100 that either comes with QoS controls or is supported by open source FW that can enable QoS. Bonus points for future proofing or the ability to stream from a USB HDD but it's not required.

well flashing different firmwares does NOT increase internet speed.

It only benefits you many ways like if you want a better QoS setup than the stock, better stability, etc.

I only use it for the QoS b/c stock isnt that good of prioritizing things.

If you are satisfied with yours, no need to upgrade your firmware. Asus firmware is pretty good itself.

I don't mind paying more if it's worth it, IMO $50 extra is worth it when it controls all of the internet in the house. I'm running a DLink WBR-2310 right now and it's decent so long as you don't make it actually do much (ie settings as close to default as possible) but it can crap out a lot and it pisses me off.

yah go for the n66u, one of the best routers out there imo. Step up would be the AC router

is Asus AiCloud as simple to use as it sounds to be? Connect a hard drive to the router and be able to access it anywhere you have internet?
