I've been collecting them since the last big Steam sale during Christmas. I don't know why I care about them, but those Steam badges and levels seem to scratch a collecting bug. I'm currently sitting at level 20.

I have a lot of games that have trading card drops, but I haven't had the effort/time to play them. Every so often, I'll install one, and let it run overnight to get the cards. I've been selling the doubles on the Steam Market, and using the funds to make complete sets.

I haven't crafted any badges since Christmas. I noticed that bonuses came with creating badges during the sale, so I think I'll wait until the summer sale to craft a bunch of badges.

If other RSers are collecting, I'll start saving my doubles for trades :)

That's what I've been doing as well, I farm badges for games I already have and try to sell and buy it for cheap ones that are easy to make.

Level 30 right now

I sold most of my doubles and triples on the market during the steam sales. I think I made like $2 off them

I can't do anything from mine since my account isn't "trusted" due to the fact that I can't actually buy games from Steam myself. It is kind of a retarded system

If you're looking for XP, or just trying to get badges, have a look at this site (http://ehsankia.com/steam/cards/). Sort it by "set price", and see what's currently the best value. Usually, it's CS:GO. Usually, I'll sell off cards from games where I get duplicate trading card drops, and use the funds to complete other sets.

I have enough to push me to level 29, but I'm going to wait. The Steam Summer sale is so close, and there will likely be additional bonuses for crafting badges.

And then what?

And then more collecting and crafting.
Rinse. Repeat.

Along with "Gamerscore' this is one thing that I will never, EVER understand. Maybe I am just old.

This has got to be one of the odder pasttimes I've heard of in a while.

A new "Mysterious" set just popped up on my badges page:
EDIT: Looks like it's Steam Summer Sale time!

Been 'farming' the cards for sets I don't have yet. I'm going to try and get all the cards I need for level 1 for all the games I have before the summer sale goes live. Don't really want to get anymore than that.

I'm just selling the Mystery Cards. They're currently getting at least $0.25 each. When the sale starts, the card prices will crash.

Wasn't expecting these cards to go UP in price... was doing the same as you and crafted and sold the mystery cards :(

All the prices have gone up. If you were selling for the purpose of completing other trading card sets, then I don't think it's too big a deal. Yeah, more money could have been made on the summer trading cards had I waited for the sale, but it is a mad house on the Steam market, now.

Getting trading cards from the Steam market got a bit easier, recently. You can set buy/sell orders. It makes it easy, and cheaper to complete sets. For example, I purchased the Guns of Icarus set of 9 cards for 45 cents total.

Too bad they didn't have this sooner. I could have really stretched out. I'm almost out of funds, and no more cards to sell.
