Hey guys so me and my friends were having a debate on what is better A 2 door G37 S auto VS. A WRX STI? Lot of people say the G37 can out take a WRX STI no problem but some say WRX STI FASTER. :/

Just wanted to know what are your guys thoughts because I am debating to get one out of these 2 cars. Of course there are pros and cons for each but just wanted to see what the RS opinions are.

Requirements:

Speed/ Luxury/ Space to go road trips ( comfortable at least ) because I do go down to the states often.

Your feed back would be greatly appreciated thanks :concentrate:

well STi should be faster 0-60mph I think?

Faster in what regards?

0-60?
Top speed?
How quickly the tank will run dry?
Around the 'Ring?
Between Captain Happy Bubble and Wings?
Which one breaks down first?

As for what's better... I absolutely detest the G35/G37 (sorry G, and the rest of you who own one :lol). So from that, I'd have to say the best car you can buy is a '97 Saab 900 Turbo.

Or an E36 with an engine swap.

You answered your own question. Your three requirements are speed, luxury, and space. You go on roadtrips often, and you really seem to care about the 1/10th of a second difference to 60.

Get a WRX STI hatchback. It is large enough for cargo and people, and has a throaty FI boxer engine. The interior has cheaper plastics, although you can get it with navigation and has some nice alcantara/leather seats.

Get a car because you like it, not because other people like it.

Test drive both and see what you like better.

Lot of people say the G37 can out take a WRX STI...

First, if you're going to be playing some type of smash up derby get a cheaper, older car. That being said...

The G37 has the weight advantage (heavier) for this type of activity. However, Subaru is known for its traction, nimbleness and safety. If you're a half decent driver you should be able to mostly evade the G37 while also staying safe.

Just curious, are you running in an organized event? PNE?

G37 isn't spacious at all compared to an STi hatch. It's a case of you have only have 2 of the 3, so pick the most important 2 and shut the fuck up.

I don't thing any of that really matter. From his posts, I think the video above answers what he "really" wants to know.

STi

Speed & luxury can always be improved with aftermarket parts, but you can't upgrade space.

you clearly have a g37 already, just get over the fact that the g35/g37's have the looks but not the performance. G's are not fast, they are fat.

you can't compare NA to FI, 1k of performance mods on the FI will give well over 70whp on most FI cars. You're lucky to get even 20whp with 2k of performance mods on a NA.

Haven't driven the G37 but i own a 06 G35, if you plan on going on lots of trips i would recommend something else, the mileage is crap. Look into a mid size hybrid, will have room, be cheap on fuel and you're less likely to race like a douche

On a sbf 302 you can pick up 100+ rwhp on a good heads/cam/intake swap for a little under 2k. If you went the GT40 heads route you could pick up like 50 rwhp for under 1k!

hey guys, saw this thread. I'm also thinking of a G37 or Corolla S. What you think is better? The 'rolla has better resale value but i'm not sure if gf will want to ride with me. How much you guys think a lease is on a G37? Also you think it's better to finance or lease? I mean oil changes and stuff are pretty rape i hear so getting free oil changes would be plus. You guys recommend me any dealerships for toyota and nissan? Is it true that North Van dealers are the best cuz of all the well off people that live there? Also you guys think it's true that red is a 'heat' color? My fav color is carbon fiber but the car doesn't come in that. I want a 'pop' color if you know what I mean.. like stand out.. I'm planning to test drive a fiat abarth next week just to compare.

Golf GTI....a bit less power (tho for approx $600 u can get a APR tune which boosts it significantly - 254hp, more than enough to boot around town IMO), but MUCH more luxurious than the STI....and the GTI is cheaper I believe...(I'm in a MK6 GTI, and I had chosen it over the STI...not up to date on the MK7)

This is pretty much exactly why I just bought a GTI over a WRX but the STI is in a different price bracket altogether.
