I'm getting mixed answers..
im looking to rent a condo and want to get the coldest.
I'm guessing north is but can someone list me the order from coldest to hottest?
some say south will be the hottest but some say the south gets a lot of light but wont actually be hot. :S

My house faces south, the front of the house gets considerably warmer from 10am - 5pm compared to the rear (north facing)
You could always just get tint that blocks UV light put on to your windows -- sounds cheesy but there's a few local companies that do it + once its done you don't notice it

i wonder how effective uv tints are for blocking heat? any possibility it might retain heat? :|
thanks for the tip though, ill keep that in mind.

North will always be the coolest because it has the least contact with the sun. The downside to that is it will always be slightly darker without the aid of indoor lighting.

I lived in condos both south and north facing (currently living in north facing). It's definitely a hell of a lot cooler in the north facing one. Though I have large windows so the amount of light isn't a huge issue.

Maybe he wants to start a grow op and needs something to cover up why he's using so much electricity :lol

same idea as your car -- I'm pretty sure you find sitting in a car with tint a lot cooler than without. It blocks 99% of UV (or whatever they claim) -- that's what heats up surfaces the most

i sleep with the windows open even in the winter.
I was told by one person that the south will get the most sun but the west sun is hotter? maybe cuz the outside has warmed up also? I'm skeptical too.
My guess is: South, south-west, west, south-east, east, north is the order of hottest to coolest.

Yup, same with me. I even leave my sunroof popped during winter while driving my car. I prefer that breeze of fresh air.
North will always be the coolest direction, followed by East. I think West will only feel like the hottest direction simply because the air has already had time to heat up and at the end of the day, you're getting the full blast from the sun. I still maintain that South will genuinely be the hottest direction, though that's simply based on prior experience and not any scientific method.

I say North. My mom's room faces North and it always felt colder when compare to the rest of the house.
