Are you kidding me? :suspicious:
China still is a very poor country...and USA still has the most millionaires/billionaires.
I know China, India, Brazil, etc..have been showing substantial growth in very short time, but USA still is number one as far as I know.
And yes I know there's a rumor of USA filing national bankruptcy soon too.
Only high class kids from Shanghai and Beijing rolling around Ferrari, Maserati and Mercedes around in Richmond, BC.
But if you look at China as whole, they're not that rich.

Point I was trying to make is there is so much "new money" in China they are buying everything and can afford all luxury goods which involve real estate, cars, yachts, jewerly

I'll be honest, I'm not typically a fan of RWB because the cars usually look a bit too ratty for my taste. I like the wide body look on older Porsches so it's not the style... just RWB's particular take on it. BUT.. this one I acutally don't mind. Maybe it' because it's black.. not some rediculous color with stickers all over it and garden trim front lips.

I never understood the hype behind this whole RWB fever either. Until I saw it at the Circuit Soul grand opening. There was the blue RWB in there and it had this crazy presence and it did take my breath away for abit. The hand work on the kit is pretty amazing I must say.

If it was my car I wouldn't be daily driving it downtown unless I wanted to show off cruising robson on a Sunday afternoon. I think everyone can agree they would be tracking the car on the racetrack getting there adrenaline overlord.
After driving this car you would quickly forget about any prejudices you have about a small cosmetic gaff. The widebody Porsches just demand respect and there appeal comes from the huge intimidation factor.

What? There's no Idler's Games here, so really all these cars are for is showing off that you can afford to bring over Nakai and purchase his kit. It's nice, but the novelty has worn off. Bear in mind that the car is a 911 underneath, it's not like the RWB kit adds 300 horsepower and racecar coilovers. Are you their sales rep or something? Because that's the vibe I'm getting reading the mess of bullshit when I read your posts.

I know it's completely periphery stuff, but I'm actually curious what the guy does at customs... does he check off the box saying there's a $30k bodykit being shipped separately from his person? And does he tell US and/or Canadian officials that he's here for a holiday or to make a bunch of money installing kits? I can't figure out how he isn't on a blacklist just based on that. Not that I want him to be... but it would be interesting to know how he gets around work visa issues.

Can recall in French class we were given most of the week to draw and label our dream house on a poster. Not even sure how much faster open wheel cars are now.
As a cop, would one throw the book at a 993 RWB for speeding? Time will tell, likely just the luck of the draw.

It's a one man operation from start to finish. Nakai isn't looking to flood the market with his work, he's interested in building cars for people who are as passionate about their Porsche as he is. He wants to know that you're going to drive and enjoy the car. There's a screening process so he knows his time and effort are going into a car that will bring joy to someone for years to come.
If he didn't every sheik would buy his kit, wrap the car in platinum vinyl and hard park it in front a Dubai hotel for the rest of it's miserable life. If you really love your car than you love it for more than looks. You give it a spanking every now and then; you take it for a long aimless drives for absolutely no reason than the pleasure of driving itself; you take to the track so you can let it out.
I respect his mindset. If you are only modifying the car for the sake of looks and the comfort of knowing what parts are there you are getting only a fraction of the enjoyment of owning the car you love.

This isn't entirely true.
Just like anywhere else in the world, there are rich individuals who just buy really nice cars and drive them around as status symbols.
But there are also car enthusiasts in Dubai, some of which have taken a great interest in purchasing and restoring old cars, it ranges from muscle cars to antiques.
So really I think dubai is just like anywhere else, except there is a disproportionate number of rich people snagging up Ferrari's and Lambos.

yeah but nicely restored antiques and muscle cars normally range from six figures to million $ or so.
You're probably talking about classic Dodge Challenger, Ford GT, Plymouth Hemi Cuda, Ferrari GTO 250, Ferrari P4, and all the other collectible vehicles.
What I meant was that how people in Japan and America are doing.
Buying a car for $1,000-$5,000...like Miata, Datsun 240Z or 510, AE86, Silvia, etc...and fix them up and have fun with it and all that.
Mustang, Camaro, Porsche 924, Fiero, Rover Mini Cooper, Eagle Talon, something that is not so status symbol if you know what I mean.

Congratulations, you are now the dumbest person in this thread, having stolen the title from Shark Tank.
F1 cars have exposed tires because they are REQUIRED to.
They would be faster if they didn't, which is why many of the aerodynamic tweaks that are designed focus on deflecting air from the tires.
What do you think those big flaps in front of the rear wheel are for? They deflect air from the rear tires... you know, the same function that would be done better by fenders if the rules allowed them.

By mindset I literally mean "Joy of Machine". That a car is more than the sum of it's parts and should be enjoyed as such. This is why you'll see many RWB owners at the track having fun. Many of these beautiful cars are driven both on the street and track. Sure it's mostly aesthetics...not like that shit is wind tunnel tested...but it does allow for a hell of a lot more rubber to fit under the fenders, which helps at the track:

Oh good lord...
I just looked at this guy's site. Why on earth would you put a body kit on...well, what is essentially going to be a classic if not a classic already? I don't even like Porsches and I wouldn't do this.
I admit it's pretty cool looking I guess other than the exposed screws and rivets holding it together. I appreciate Japanese craftsmen like this guy that do work with exceedingly OCD attention to detail but wow, would you do this to an E-Type or a Ferrari 275? I imagine the 964 isn't a super rare car but still...

Against my better judgment, I thought I would add my two cents. (I also included a few photos that I've snapped over the past few years for fun) I can understand why people don't like RWB, it's unconventional and it marries two automotive cultures that don't always fit together. However, that being said I think that's exactly why I appreciate RWB.
http://dodologic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/RWB.jpg
I think part of the appeal of these cars is the niche factor coupled with some sense of exclusivity which sort of translates to it's "either you get it or don't" attitude. However, it's probably safer to say either you like it or you don't.
http://dodologic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Hoon1.jpg
http://dodologic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/RWB7.jpg
Yes, it's just a kit and some crazy offset wheels but I think a lot of the owners also invest in performance upgrades. At least the good ones do...
http://dodologic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Fatlace22.jpg
All that being said RWB was definitely backed by the right people/taste makers when it made its North American debut a few years ago which probably didn't hurt.

Car enthusiasts are judgemental in general. No cars are perfect so that's why we mod them. I know a lot of people would buy a Ferrari 458 Italia and drive it around stock, wash it and keep it clean and all that, but I think Liberty Walk 458 Italia is sick and much better than stock, even that there are some room for improvements.
Having said that, yes some cars truly are beauty of work like you said.

I would say both.
A lot of people like working on their cars, modding them, customize it to their personality, etc.
Obviously, driving part is fun too but modding actually is equally as fun.
People can judge how Jap people modding their exotics saying it's not tastefully done or whatever.
But when I see bone stock Lambo and Ferrari, it makes me feel like those people just bought their car for luxury status, instead of having fun with it.

But when I see bone stock Lambo and Ferrari, it makes me feel like those people just bought their car for luxury status, instead of having fun with it.
Being behind the seat is way more fun then looking at someone car online. For driving purposes modding in exotic is kind of pointless. You already have a ton of power and body kits don't really add anything performance or handling.

If you're strictly talking about driving purpose, Mazda Miata and Lotus Elise will do much better job on the street.
Maybe Caterham Super Seven if you're looking for something more raw.
Sure, Aventador can do 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds and go up to 350km/h.
Has blazing fast paddle shift, electronic stability control, premium sound system, expensive leather bucket seats, etc.
But in the end Ferrari and Lambo are simply overkill if you're simply just looking for driving pleasure.
In summary I think a lot of people just buy them for bragging rights, status, luxury, etc.

It's not over kill If you like driving. Caterham is a great car but what do you do when you are driving to Tofino and it starts raining?

The are overkill in the sense that very few people have the skill to properly use a supercar. A very small number of supercar owners actually have the skills to properly utilize the cars potential.

Automotive culture is like art. Everyone interprets it differently and that's what makes the sum of it all so exciting and progressive. I love it when people push the boundaries, whether I like the style or not. That's what help us define what we like and don't like. Or else this scene would be boring as fuck. Being critical just comes with the territory. I'm critical as hell but who cares what I think right? Seeing a person(or groups) passion for a certain style can help me appreciate it more. Just because I don't like it shouldn't matter. Passion is why we are all here isn't it?
Yes, it pisses me off when mainlanders(I'm generalizing but not far off I bet) daily drive Lambo's(which I hate anyway), etc just to look cool or for "face" as they call it. Are you that fucking weak that you need an exotic to make your self feel worthy? That's really my only gripe with this whole scene. But hey, maybe they've been dreaming of that shit since they were a kid and their wealthy family can provide that for them. Who am I to hate on that?
Kinda feel like I'm beating a dead horse here but whatevs.........carry on.

Even with skill, there are few instances where owners can safely/legally take the car to it's potential (e.g. on the track).
As the saying goes, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

As the saying goes, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.yeah, here are some cheap and slow cars, they do not have V12 like Lambo or Ferrari or paddle shift that takes 50 milli-second or something but you can't say these are not fun, especially on the street.
My point is, when I see BONE STOCK Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Bugatti, whatever, they do look fucking boring. They're probably not much of a car enthusiast.
Go to a car show and see how much attention BONE STOCK Lambos will get.

"Unlike the dual-clutch automatic in the M3, the IS-F employs an eight-speed automatic transmission which isn’t as quick but does shift seamlessly."

What Datsun is this? I love the look apart from the stupid wide body, wheels and slamming. I like the lowered look but this whole stance thing is stupid when it goes too low. "My car is so stanced it doesn't work!"

I have the biggest hard on for RWB's but that wing extension is just flat out retarded.
