Okay, I have to ask...I did a quick search for "Tron" but didn't know how to otherwise look for a thread on this fucking awful trend.
I've been seeing more and more of these abominations on the road lately. There's a shimery rainbow bullshit Lambo in Richmond with orange Tron stripes on it and it makes me sad every time I see it.

Looks exactly like this...and that makes me even sadder to know there's one in the UK exactly like it.
I parked at Lordco the other day and saw a white BMW SUV with blue stripes all over it.
I imagine they think they look like

...when in fact, it's more like

Who the fuck does this to their car, looks at it and thinks "Yep, I did a good job."

Just blame the kids with a ton of $$$ who have absolutely no taste in "modifying their cars"
Vinyl wraps can look good - but it's poor execution when we bash said vehicles with them (especially by MM Design here in the lower mainland that makes it look terrible)
Plasti Dip can be made to look good - but not when people use cans to do it
This 3M Reflective Vinyl tape? Meh - it looks terrible in general
However, some cars can look pretty good when it's done nicely but on 99.9% of the instances, they are terrible

Yes but I'm curious as to why and who the fuck does this? I don't know anyone that thinks it looks good.

That's pretty much it. As flashy as possible seems to be their Modus operandi so this styling suits that goal just fine. Ugly and tragic but whatcha gonna do? Money doesn't buy taste.

i saw a black audi with similar orange stripes the other day. I was puzzled as fuck to what was going on. Now it makes sense.

I like how the last pic, on the poster, makes it look like that the "tron" tape is invisible otherwise during the day. What a joke these cars are.
I'll be honest, some of these look quite nice.

I'll be honest, maybe 1 out of every 10 looks even halfway decent.
This 3M tape was originally brought to market in order to help tag construction equipment for visibility or to improve night visibility of objects. I have no idea who started this trend of wrapping the cracks of their body panels in it, but its pretty dumb...

If the car has amazing lines to begin with, then yes it can look nice.
Unfortunately, most of the cars with this "crack reflecting line" crap you see here do not have nice lines.

Yeah. Put it on something like an Aventador, it's pretty nice. Put it on a G37 and it looks like shit.
Then again, people on this very forum slam their cars so low they scrape everywhere, which also looks like shit. Who cares, though? It's their car, like we should give any amount of fucks.

Step 1) Buy super car
Step 2) Wrap in metallic vinyl wrap that hides all the lines of the car
Step 3) Add ugly neon tape to every single seam to restore lost body lines
Step 4) Internet
Step 5) ???
Step 6) No profit, just look like a massive idiot.

im surprised cops r letting this slide, this is basically making the whole car a giant reflector, and u know how the MVA requires orange reflectors up front and i think white or red reflectors out back?

Not that I'm a fan... but why hasn't anyone put the actual light up shit on there? It's been around for 10+ years. I bought some years ago under the "Californeon" brand with the intent of ricing out my already rice-a-riffic Crapalier... but then I decided not to be worse that the rest of the peeps on RS.net :)
