To All Revscene members that live in Richmond:
On Friday night (July 25th) @ ~9pm, I was driving my family car (civic sedan) with my wife and two kids (1 toddler and 1 new born infant).
We just turned right from Hollybridge way onto Elmbridge Way (heading west bound) when we suddenly heard a loud exhaust/engine sound coming from the West end / bend of Elmbridge way. At around the same moment we saw a car plough from its own lane into my lane (ie: oncoming traffic lane). For those that aren't aware, Elmbridge way is wide enough for 4 lanes of traffic but only hosts 2 lanes (one west bound, the other east bound).
At this point my car had come to a stop as myself and my wife could not believe what we were seeing. Excessive speeding would be an extreme understatement for the oncoming vehicle. The speed at which the car carried indicated that it was not intending to slow down while exiting the bend.
At first I thought the car would correct itself and get back into its own lane but it did NOT. Like a movie, the car suddenly started to fish tail. The driver
decided it was better to counter steer the car instead of hitting the brakes. The driver continued to counter steer 5 times (left right left right, etc.).
Once the car got within a nearing distance to our family car, I realized I had to take action or otherwise risk a head on collision with a fish tailing vehicle coming in at high speeds. Almost like a video game, I had to time the fish tailing vehicle and then quickly dodge right with our family car into a side parking lot of a business unit on Elmbridge way.
Once I regained my nerves, realized I needed to capture the license plate of that vehicle and report it to the police immediately. I pulled back out onto Elmbridge way and saw the vehicle turning into an alleyway (ie: ORA buiding complex parkade alleyway). I believe the driver managed to regain control from fish tailing, most likely due to the amount of speed scrubbed off while fish tailing prior. I followed the vehicle into the alley and my wife managed to capture a picture of the vehicle and license plate.
I am quite sure that if we did collide my infant new born child would surely die.
I have been informed by a few friends that the car is usually spotted in and around the Oval area and often frequents Revscene meets. Please ensure you all pay attention to this vehicle as it is possible the driver of the vehicle may attempt to 'practice' top speed cornering again.
The vehicle is a mint green (vinyl wrapped) Audi. From the picture it appears to be an RS4 model sedan.
License plate: 778 TXR
From what I could see while the driver waited for the parkade door to open, the driver is asian and most likely male.
The police have already been notified and I was assured the case would be followed up.
To the reckless and irresponsible driver of the Audi:
I am not impressed by your 'mad' driving skills. I can see that you have a need for speed. I surmise that if you continue in your ways unchanged from our near death collision, that you will eventually end up much worse and will not be as lucky every time you screw up driving at high speeds in the city. As a fellow car enthusiast I encourage you to take your need for speed or vehicle top speed testing to the track. Take some lessons while you are at it. Once you do, you will wonder why you even bothered doing this on the streets to begin with.
To the friends/acquaintances of the Audi:
Please take it on as your responsibility to educate your fellow friend that such behaviour on the streets is pure insanity. Lives are at risk. If you continue to allow your friend to drive as such, you may eventually end up riding in his vehicle while he attempts another life threatening attempt at proving his ego.
