I'm flying to Frankfurt tomorrow and plan to visit Nurburgring over the weekend. I will be renting a economy box and plan to do a lap on the track and visit some of their tourist attractions. Have anyone been and any tips on going there?

The regular car rental companies really frown on taking their cars on the track, it's best to go to rentforring or similar for the best track experience. Otherwise, it's a sight to see. There's often lots of cool stuff in the parking lots and a bunch of expensive souvenirs to buy.

I've been to the Nurburgring dozens of times. As immorality said, normal rental car companies don't like/let you take their cars on that track and the staff at the Nurbrugring are also on the lookout for those type of cars.

if you're looking to go on the track and really getting a good once in a lifetime type of experience, then best thing to do is rent a race-prepped car from the numerous rental companies that are just outside the track. I've done this twice now, first with a Suzuki Swift (more fun than I expected) and a second time last year with a Volkswagen Scirocco. Check out my website on the review of the VW and the youTube vid in the review is one of the better laps that I did. Review: Volkswagen Scirocco, Rent4ring Stage 2 | M.G. Reviews (http://mgreviews.com/2013/07/28/review-volkswagen-scirocco-rent4ring-stage-2/)

Rent4Ring has been the company that I've rented both cars from. they have a knowledgeable and friendly staff but they're a bit on the pricey side. Rent4Ring | Race car rentals at the Nurburgring Nordschleife (http://www.rent4ring.de/en/)

RSR Nurburg and Rent Race Car are 2 other companies that I've seen at the track but I don't know what they're like, prices look to be cheaper than Rent4Ring.

I did 4 laps in a tracked out Renault Clio sport cup with RSR Nurburg. One of the best experiences of my life. Rsr had a great little classroom portion prior to driving with some tips on turn in at the carousel and other useful stuff. Really knowledgeable staff and nice environment.

My tips would be to get at least four laps and not take it too seriously and just enjoy it. Also, early evening on a weekday is great because there are way less people out and less chance of an accident shutting the ring down.

My only advice would be to drive a car we can't get in N/A, more of a personal preference though.

check the ring schedule to see if its open for public that day
check the uk forums and see if anyone is going out there that weekend. ask for ride in advance.
the b roads around the ring is pretty much touge.
be ready to be schooled by the locals and let faster people pass, always.
climb to the top of the nurburgring castle for a nice view.

i wander if I'll be less crash prone if I have a Nur 24hr experience under my belt :considered:

I mean the tracks in Forza and Gran Turismo are laser-scanned...I should be good to go?

Did 2 laps with rentracecar. Can't remember the price but you need a credit card to put a damage deposit down. It was $9000 dollar deposit for the Toyota frs .$2000 for the Suzuki I drove. Also the ring experience is kinda cool if you have to wait. They have indoor gocarts

A friend of mine went and we did a bunch of practice playing GT6 with G27's beforehand so he could be a bit more familiar with the circuit. It's so bloody big though it'd take forever to memorize it.

DON'T take your airport rental car to the 'Ring. Yes, the officials will let you onto the track but most rental companies over there have stipulations in their fine print that will void your insurance if you crash while racing around a track, 'Ring included.

Rent a GT-R, one of the fastest production cars in the world on Nurburgring.

Why don't you let him know where he can rent a GT-R? Last I have been there it is not that easy to find one for rent.

wow old bump, if anyone does end up going you should check out www.Ringfreaks.de for car rentals. These two brothers from Lithuania just started a car rental business there specifically beside the ring, they got 2 325i* e90s and an e46 m3 for rent around the ring.

I'm not that balling Timpo sooo....

I booked 2 nights at cologne. Thinking about renting a car to drive down to nurburgring and then renting a car from there.

The driver isnt looking to spend crazy 3000 euros on super cars. I'm already spending enough money on the trip itself. I hear Suzuki swift is actually pretty fun and reasonably priced. Any other suggestions please :3 ty
