anybody interested?? Might plan on going down to spanish or up burnaby mountain tonight at 1am to check it out myself. Ive told my girlfriend that my biggest wish is to one day to see the northern lights in person, up in the north west territories. I've always imagined viewing these spectacular lights with the ground covered in snow and far away from the city. xD

Northern Lights expected over Metro Vancouver on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2014/09/northern-lights-expected-metro-vancouver-thursday-friday-nights/)

I went last night and didn't see anything... As for your bucket list... These will not be the rainbow colored northern lights that you are thinking of. You may only see green because most of the other colors will not be as visible this far south.

Also: Too much light pollution.

might also go to bby mountain or somewhere farther away from the city.

You can make something that surpasses this: Yosemitebear Mountain Double Rainbow 1-8-10 - YouTube

I think I'll go to Squint Lake to see the Northern Lights this evening. Maybe others can join us.

If you genuinely want the best chance of seeing it, go to the Dark Sky park in Abbotsford.

When I saw the link in your post, my exact thoughts were "If this is a fucking vancitybuzz article I'm going to have a fucking aneurysm." Fuck. To make me less angry, I had to watch this.
Aurora Borealis, The Simpsons - YouTube
I've seen them pretty intensely in Edmonton and in Jasper. Much more vivid a little further north.

nothing at bbymtn, left cuz too rowdy. two cop cars up there ticketing illegal parking, some car going into a ditch, prius out of battery, dead, and blocking uphill lane, crv doing a railslide on a curb, some Mitsubishi electric car driving on the grass field. all sorts of cars slamming their oil pans and subframes trying to park over the curb into grass field. parking all the way down to the bottom. just a gongshow. left without seeing anything. too cloudy and the cops spotlight is aiming directly in our eyes the way we need to look towards the sky. not all that enjoyable.

Bahahaha, thinking you're gonna see the northern lights in the city... You can barely see the stars as it is. Gotta get out into the bush. Top of Black Tusk would've been a good spot to view.

I've seen them before coming back from peace arch.

They're pretty bright and hard to miss then they're actually there.

Seeing the lights is actually a pretty neat experience. They can be super hard to see in the city unless it's a very strong one. I do see them occasionally here in Kamloops as there's not as much light pollution. Green will be the one colour you'll see most often, but once in a while other colours will appear.

Go somewhere with less light pollution.. since the sky is clear you don't really need to be that high up to see it.

It happens very quite often in the Lower Mainland, I really don't know why there need to be news article about it..
