Hmmm, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is seriously considering setting up shop in Vancouver. 
Minister of Industry James Moore's tweet:
Had a great meeting with Alibaba.com CEO Jack Ma. Alibaba is seriously considering a new campus in Vancouver. #DigitalCanada Alibaba's Jack Ma, China's richest man, eyes Vancouver for new office
Started in 1999 by the former high school English teacher, Alibaba Group and affiliated businesses has 600 million registered online buyers and is expected to handle about $270 billion in online transactions this year.
In September, Alibaba Group set a record $25 billion IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. The Chinese-based company is considered to be the world’s biggest online commerce company and has amassed hundreds of millions of users, and also is home to millions of merchants through its services — its three main sites are Taobao, Tmall and Alibaba.com.

Alibaba will open office here. The suppliers on eBay and Amazon are all from Alibaba. Furthermore , Taobao/Alibaba sells more goods than ebay amazon walmart combined. The end of Amazon.ca and eBay.ca is approaching. And Jack Ma's son is currently studying at St.George's.
