With Xmas is about a month away I am sure people have started their shopping already. I have learn over the past few years not to get presents last min (as in Xmas Eve). Pretty much I am done all my shopping so far. Now comes wrapping time :heckno:

- HTC E8 for my gf
- Canucks scarf, Canucks cap, Canucks cup for cousin 1
- Lululemon zip up for cousin 2
- Star wars spaceship lego set for cousin 3
- Jenga and Minions monopoly for cousin 4
- Canucks baby bottles, Canucks kids eating set for friend (he just had a baby boy)
- 2x Snowboarding goggles, starbucks cup, headphones, Micro SD memory cards etc etc for various friends
- Swarovski crystal for the my sister
- Skin care products for my mom
- Shirt for my dad (he gets one every year lol)

What's everyone getting this year?

My parents did such a shitty job raising me that I don't buy presents for people... which is exactly why my parents won't be getting anything, why reward them for their lack of effort?

True but seeing the smiles and laughter from my cousin is always priceless. Beside is always getting to give to others.

Pretty much, my family doesn't do gifts unless it's for the kids. I can't remember the last time my wife or myself bought each other anything for a Xmas or a birthday. If I want something I'll go buy it for myself.

This. I think everyone just gets so caught up in buying gifts and spending money, that Christmas becomes stressful (esp if you're a broke student like me lol) rather than a time to look forward to. Especially now that the GF and I are at school full-time and my parents are both retired, trying to scrounge up the extra $$ for gifts makes life pretty hard.

This year my family isn't doing gifts, and my gf and I have decided to put the money we save towards a nice vacation for when exams conclude in April. It already feels less stressful in the home and everyone is in a lighter mood for a change instead of super frantic stressed out. It's nice... not for everyone though, if you have the means gifts are certainly nice but keep in mind not everyone else does!

i like getting neat thoughtful things for my family and the few children in my life. i also make sure i visit damn near every single friend i have during this time. if you don't buy presents i see the reasoning and advantage in it. but don't act like you're better then me or anyone else because of it.

of course i'm not going around buying new iphones, ps4's and cars for everyone. most expensive gift is probably some video games for my sister.

Calvin Klein 3-pack of white v-neck polos @costco. These are the best undershirts casual shirts in my opinion. They fit great and are super comfy. My dad loves to wear these as undershirts

$9
Panasonic HJE120 Headphones, if you want great headphones or know someone who needs them check these out. They are #1 best sellers on Amazon and highly reviewed for their price point. I use them at the gym and love them. Super cheap, very good sound
****My friend just got these and his sound TERRIBLE! I'm not sure why. I think they need to be heavily burned in. I always burn them in overnight for three or so days. I guess I had them so long I forgotten. So if they sound kind of crappy right of the box, try burning them in first. Sorry for those who ordered who are not impressed.
If you want great headphones out of the box, try these. I recently bought these at the airport because I forgot my set and they sounded great out of the box. Stuff for your momma

$8+shipping
Wood Fiber cleaning cloths. I'm not sure if you work the kitchen often, but most cleaning cloths are pretty disgusting after only a months use, even if you wash them. The smell and bacteria that get on them is horrendous. These wood fiber cloths are unbelievable. There is absolutely no smell to these things and I love them. What's more, my mom LOVES them. They clean and absorb like no other and I guarantee your mom will find these cloths as exceptional. If you need a stocking stuffer for momma, these should be it.

$45
Anti-fatiguing mat, this is a must have for all moms in the kitchen. We have one in front of our sink and our stove. My mom thought they were stupid and a waste of money in the beginning and now she can't live without them. Costco has them for around $25. We actually got ours at Winner's for $20 each, but they don't always have stock. I would check Walmart and Target as well.

Giving gifts is a gift in itself. Getting presents is awesome, but we think that giving them is even better. Last year, we assembled some shoeboxes filled with stuff for kids in Africa. I think we'll be doing the same, again. You can also donate $15/box, and they'll assemble a pre-configured list for you, but it's more rewarding to put some thought into customization.

Besides that my gf and I agreed we'd prefer spend less on each other this Christmas and put the money toward a nice vacation in the first quarter of 2015. So I'm looking at getting my dad something different this year and I figure I would go with tools!

I'm looking at getting him a screwdriver + socket/drive tool sets from Nepros
Plier sets from Knipex or Stahlwille
and a power tool set from Snap-On

the downside is i don't really know know tools ye know? so i've got some questions and hopefully you guys can help out

1st) can anyone recommend better brands other than the ones i'm hoping to go with?

2nd) 1/4" 3/8" or 1/2" for the socket/drive set? (i was leaning on 1/2" but keep getting suggested 3/8")

3rd) where can I find Snap-On & Stahlwille tools locally? (i found distributors but no stores ???)

4) suggestions for any other gifts?

I need some help finding something for my boyfriend, $50-100 (that's the limit we set for each other). He want something useful. He doesn't have a lot of interests, but he likes cooking, cats (doesn't have one though), leather things like bags, shoes, wallets I expect. He goes to SFU. yeah what under said there are shops in the mall that will engrave things for you like this place in coquitlam centre Engraved Gifts Create Lasting Memories | Things Engraved (http://www.thingsengraved.ca/) (similar stores in each mall)

or you could buy a little engraver like this (think they're around $10-$20)

I'd go for a good knife. Find a 75% off sale and find him a beauty. The Bay has good sales, but generally on sets. I'd love a nice handcrafted Japanese knife.

I really don't know much about Knives. But if you know a chef they could help you out. I'd be pretty happy if I found this under the tree.

If he is indeed really into cooking, he may already have decent knives. Investigate to see if he has sharpening stones. They can be a little pricey, and not as exciting as a knife but if he loves to cook, nothing better then a sharp knife. So you need something to keep it sharp ;)

I'm not into Christmas much other than friends & family hangout sessions. Food, fun and rum with egg nog :sweetjesus:

For those I do shop for, I tend to buy random things on impulse like this item I saw today.

Never knew this existed till today. They have a Muhammad Ali version as well.

It's for my brother. He's a huge SF fan.

Got it from London Drugs. Was on special, too. Based on the signage, I'd say it's a one time thing (no rain checks / while supplies last).

I bought my mom a wine rack, cook book and a real cook mandolin(food slicer for cooking)

my dad I bought him a box of wine (he likes boxed wine lol) a cook book about sausage making, a polish sausage making kit, meat grinder for his kitchen aid, sausage making attachment for the meat grinder and a whisk...

Not bad in getting all of this in a day and not having a clue what to do

Kinda off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I bought some gifts today at Oakridge and went to the gift wrap centre. I had a carry on size luggage and a small box to be wrapped (total 2 items). I asked the guy before wrapping it how much it would be and he said its by donation. I thought ok cool so I drop of the gifts for wrapping and come back 20 minutes later.

When I pick up the 2 items the man asked me for $14...I told him I thought it was by donation so I was just going to give like $5-7 for it since its just 2 items and I could of wrapped them myself.

The man said he charges by size blah blah, I didn't want to make a big fuss since there was a line behind me and I guess it goes to a charitable cause but it seems really unfair to ask people for money like that. I already have $7 out for the 2 items which I felt was fair for the wrapping and now I pretty much paid double that amount.

Do all gift wrap places do this? This is my first time using a gift wrap service as we usually wrap it ourselves.

Friend used to volunteer there. She said they have a sign somewhere with a list of suggested donations by size per gift. Seems most people donate 2-5$ per gift pending size. Maybe 10$ if it was bigger box / complicated angles / custom box. Guy was pushy for whatever reason in your case; haven't ever seen them state a price specifically unless you asked. They usually just refer you to the sign they have if you ask though.

Sorry for the late response but I paid $11.50 for it. Regular was like $25
