: Owner of the vehicle owns a CAA Approved Repair Services, should I still use BCAA?

2 question!

1) I am about to buy a used car off a respected owner (I seen many posts on Revscene where people praise this shop, I'll leave out name for now) and he is a CAA Approved Repair shop.

Should I still use BCAA mobile inspection to inspect the vehicle?

I have already done CarProof and everything seems fine.

2) The background story is kind of messy, but the owner of the vehicle passed away and the car was passed on to his wife. Then, his wife gave Transfer forms (with the wife's name on it) to the Owner of this shop because they were close friends in order to sell the vehicle on her behalf. This is all fine right? The Owner will go to ICBC with me to fill out all the paperwork (no lien, and/or stolen status from CarProof)

Regardless if the shop is well respected, you should still get it inspected. It's not the shop or the widow's car, so you're not even dealing with the guy who drove it day in, day out, to get accurate details.

If the car's worth more than a few grand, definitely get an inspection.

Plus, just because a car's owner may be a top-notch mechanic (speaking generally here, obviously doesn't apply in this case), doesn't mean he drives a perfectly repaired and maintained car. When you do something for a living day-in and day-out, the last thing you generally want to do is come home and do the same damn thing. I install high-end surveillance systems so people instantly assume my house is bristling with super-high-def cameras... nope, I have a couple basic cameras with poorly-hidden wiring in easy-to-reach locations, that's it... just don't want to put in that amount of work when I come home to relax.

Fair enough.

But for the 2nd question, would it be a problem for the non-owner with the Transfer forms to sell me the car? Who should I make the payment out to?
