: DRL and high beam issue

Posting it here cus i figured it has more traffic, if in the wrong place mods please feel free to move.

My 02 civic recently developed a buzzing sound behind the cluster. The DRL light would go on and kinda flicker when this buzzing sound happens. It seems like turning on the headlights would make this issue go away. My highbeams haven't been working since i got the car couple of years ago and i found out last month that it had nothing to do with the bulbs. Something about a switch by the steering column.
Didn't really care cus i never use high beams. The DRL issue is different cus that buzzing sound is annoying as fuck.

Are these two issues related? I've been looking online and it looks to be related to the DRL module/relay whatever that means.
Is this an easy fix? Are the parts easy to come by? Car is daily driven so i'm hoping it doesn't get to the point where i have to remove the DRL fuse or drive with low beams on all the time.

Anyone experience this before?

Thanks in advance for the advice and input!

its a pretty common problem with hondas from that era. the module in my old TL had the same issue..

Sweet, thanks for the link!
That one was pretty straightforward. The other ones kept saying either relay or module.
Now this module...doesn't say but I don't have to take apart the dash for this right?
I'll give it a shot over the weekend, hopefully it's not too hard to get that module out

You shouldn't have to take apart the dash. Just get down where the pedals are and look up, somewhere around the steering shaft you should see a little grey box like the one in the pictures. If you're not a diy type person then maybe you shouldn't tackle it, just find a friend who is and feed him some pizza and beer and get it done.

my 02 civic sir had the buzzing issue. i took the module out and re-solder any point that had hairline crack, then problem solved.

the two issues you described could be related. if you take out the DRL module, the low beam would still work, but the high beam won't work. conclusion: a malfunction DRL module not only affects the DRL function, but also the high beam as well.

sweet, hopefully it solves the high beam issue too.
i'll have to see how much of a bitch it is to take off...i'm ok with diy, dealing with the module is probably the easiest part, removing it is a different story.
i haven't looked yet but apparently if it is hard to remove via the bracket, it can be removed by unclipping it or something...
lol my experience with honda clips and fasteners isn't great

I've attached the diagram(named as DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS CONTROL UNIT) of where the module is located, I believe all civic models should be pretty similar. It is a grey box with one harness plug, and slide it out after unplugging.

I actually just pulled the drl fuse in my civic when I still owned this thing. I'd do it again.
