Family style dining

Anyone know of any place that offers or can offer a family style dining experience?
Think.. everyone pays $30/$35 and they bring platters upon platters of food off the menu where everyone just digs in and shares.
I'm thinking some italian / greek / fusion asian (like: Bao Bei not: nanyc's wonton house) place must offer this type?
Group of 10-12 people.

Bambudda in Gastown (http://bambudda.ca/) does. They even have a private room to host groups of 10 - 12. I would e-mail them to make arrangements. The owner himself will work with your budget and group's needs. Curtis Luk is currently their executive chef.
Edit:
There is also Burdock & Co. (http://burdockandco.com/) on Main and Kessel and March (http://www.kesselandmarch.com/) on Powell.

Those all sound like expensive-ish options.

Not really, just saying those suggestions seem a touch out of OP's stated budget.
It sounds like OP wants the more low-key, more traditional variants of these:
Private Dining & Groups ? Wildebeest (http://wildebeest.ca/private-dining-events/)
BIG LOU'S BUTCHER SHOP Bouchery Dining For Private Dinners (http://www.biglousbutchershop.com/Bouchery_Dining.html) <-- "The Big Dinner"
Both are on my personal list to hit up.
But not quite helpful since they are not within budget nor are they more traditional.
Quite interested on this topic too.
It's my preferred way to eat now.

The budgets stated by the OP are possible. You just need to work with the management team and make a few compromises here and there while being able to have a great meal with your friends/family/colleagues or WHY.
FWIW, I have had family-style dinners at Bambudda and Burdock & Co. hitting $40/person. A friend of mine managed the same at Kessel & March for $40/person as well. Could the price point been lower? Yes, but the group wanted a few extra dishes so it boils down to working with your party and the restaurant itself. YMMV.
Edit: The Blacktail Florist should also have something similar as they do have a private dining room downstairs.

You can give him a $ amount you want to spend / person, or ask for specific items to be included. I think this meal was either $25 or $30 a head.
