can anyone tell me the cons of tinting tail lights?

I m ve been playing with the idea of tinting my tails but dont want any hassle if some idiot rear ends me and says they cant see my lights or w.e.

below is the darkness of tint I want, I believe its pretty light, I want the new ford explorer look. just lightly tinted.

iirc, tinting the tails is illegal unless the reflector is separate.

A film would be okay

Or if you're gonna use VHT spray be sure to clear coat it so it's still transparent

you can just spray tint them or you can wrap them. Midnite shades and VHT makes a spray that blacks the headlights out but makes them visible when you hit the brakes.

"(4) A tail lamp must be capable of emitting a red light that is
visible from at least 150 metres to the rear"

I've never had any issues with mine, I used VHT night shade spray

buuuut if you get rear ended I'm sure they can attempt to hold it against you.

They look a lot darker in this picture than they really are.

Here's a pic of my old pathfinder with tinted tails

I think it makes the back like 10x better

Still easily visible with lights on

If you wanna go by the books, it's illegal to tint your tail lights

Hchang, did you use vht spray or a film?

I was thinking about tinting it because I could reverse it.

I m guessing the vht spray sticks on for good?

Technically its illegal, and you can get a ticket depending on the cop

i believe N-motion can do tail light tints with film for 80$ last time i asked
and you can choose how dark/light you want it

film is probably a better option seeing that its completely reversible

Tinting taillights side marker ect is such a tasteless mod imo. It annoys the hell out of me when someone tells me "you should smoke out your tails bro".

It was a film

gas takes it off

Never tried using gas but paint thinner works pretty well from my experience

As long as you don't tint them to the point where you can't see the red light illuminating during the day, I'm fine with it.

Too many times I see idiots driving around in Surrey especially with essentially black taillight covers and you can even see the light illuminating...
