Some crazy misinformation and making shit up going on here.
Was not an accident per se, whether fatal or not has not been shared. A SB dump truck lost control, hit the median, burst into flames, exploded a few times.
Also didn't happen at 11:40, happened just after 9.
Hwy 99 was never shut down. Since an hour ago it has been reopened in both directions with SB detoured onto Hwy 17 around the wreck.
Jesus man, get your shit together.

CTV says the driver died in their article I posted.
Driver of dump truck lost consciousness and people were unsuccessful at getting him out.

99 was shut down in the morning since the truck hit the median and blocked both nb/sb.
There is a fatality.
Either way, avoid 99 as much as possible today. Take either 17 or 91 to 99 if you are heading to the states.

My friend told me that the driver was a hostage and the assailant had a gun to his head. This was no accident

Read earlier today that it was suggested the truck may have blew a tire before losing control, wasn't confirmed though.

Came up behind the accident by about 1 minute. Spent two hours stuck there. My condolences to the family of the driver. What a terrible way to pass away. Kudos to the people who tried to free the driver.

I always leave a rescure knife with seatbelt cutter and glass breaker in the car. Wonder if something like that would have helped in a situation like this.
