: What vehicles are you currently on the hunt/searching for?

So we have a craigslist good buys thread, and I know a large number of you guys are constantly checking up online classifieds for vehicles.

I'm curious to see what people were looking for in particular?
What vehicles are you looking to purchase in the near-future?

-

I'll start. I'm not searching for anything big budget or "special" really. I've been avidly searching on craigslist in the past 3 months looking for a decent '92 Honda Civic VX but currently to no avail. There was one posted up a few weeks ago for $2000 with <200k kms but it sold within hours of posting :okay:

The trim itself is pretty rare, as not many VXs were ever sold in the first place. I settled for a CRX I purchased last December which I am fairly happy about. I am starting to do research into the HF "High Fuel" trim levels for the CRX, so I'm currently scouting for one as well if the VX can't be found.

I like small, lightweight, tin-canned fuel efficient beaters :concentrate:
I drive slow anyways, so horsepower for me isn't a concern at the moment.

I would like a sportier car, such as a Genesis once the market value dips closer to $10k or perhaps an FRS once it hits $15k

Pretty much anything, almost like browsing the used car lot on gran turismo, I search what comes to mind.

Any 911 from 73-2004 preferably a 964 or 911sc though.
I'm not finding myself willing to spend what the inflated market is right now though. If a bargain popped up I'd buy, but there are so many shitboxes that people are snatching up for lots more than they are worth for fear of the market passing them by with the upturn. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are some great examples fetching collector prices, but I just don't have the money for that. I want something decent I can enjoy. I'm having a hard time being rational enough to keep my cash in my bank account, but holding on.

I can't justify paying almost triple what my e36 is worth when the e36 is a better car in every imaginable way other than looks and the rarity/history.
edit: just saw another diamondschwarz e30 m3 on there with BBS RK's and lower kms for 33k. Looks much better than the red one. Still, its not a perfect looking car, nor can I process the thought of it being worth 33k (so basically 45k by the time it gets in my driveway)

Always looking for my favourites:

964 manual coupe
NSX
Integra Type R
E46 M3 manual coupe
E30 M3 (do these ever come up for sale in BC?)

WTB ads pop on craigslist for all these cars. As westopher has mentioned in previous threads, you have to get creative to find people selling these high demand cars before they hit the market.

This NSX is still tempting as a driver. Condition trumps mileage.

I'm looking for a car that is reliable, fun to drive, stick shift, is maintained by a car guy/enthusiast, has a hatch, and is wife-approved. A vehicle that takes me from the mess that is Costco parking lots on a Sunday, to Sunday morning drives with no destination, to an evening on the town with the wife.

Such a vehicle does not exist in the used market. I guess I'll just stick with my stick-shift E39.

I've been on the hunt for a Saturn Astra, auto, 4/5 door, ideally a blue or red XR with under 150k for $6-8k for a while now but no dice. Considering the 05-08 (ideally 06) Matrix as well but those tend to be more expensive.

I had a Vino 125.

I live in dt Van, and boy was it fun booting around on side streets with it as opposed to walking everywhere. Bought it for 1000 and sold it sadly for 750. Was around 22,000kms so it was well worn in with scratches (from PO ;)) but with gas at 1.45/litre, I could fill with a 5er and go almost all week.

Sure beats taking the bus in the summer, and chicks love it! :woot2:

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably get a bergman or something similar as I always wanted to take my scooter on longer rides, but the buzziness and wind really bothered me.

1990 or a 1991 Zenki Honda Accord 5 spd. Preferably in Charcoal Gray metallic.

Nothing special, but a car that holds some sentimental value to myself and would like a different daily than the E34 and E24.

what i really want right now is a 94/95 canary yellow mustang gt. first model car i ever built was of that exact car. i cherished the thing and at the time i genuinely thought that i would buy one when i got older. i was broken when my asshole cousin busted that model car up..

We're going to be putting le gf's up for sale soon. 97 base, 138k, red, started as an auto but swapped to a manual at 100k with an Accord transmission (longer gears). Nearly mint cloth interior, heated seats, A/C, remote start, CAI and front strut tower bar but otherwise bone stock. Cons: Paint is in good shape for the age (could use a good detail) but the clearcoat on the roof is starting to crack (no peeling), I was going to wrap it black or something, steering wheel is a bit worn around the outside and the struts are a bit soft.

Saab throttle cable and a low mileage 1.6T VW TDI engine. :okay:

That said, I've always got one eye out on the classifieds for a bugeye STI. Still lusting after one.

There is no 1.6 tdi in north America. either 1.9TDI or 1.6td/1.9td IDI. I search for these all the time. I don't know your budget but I have seen new longblocks before. Last one was a brand new ALH TDI standalone generator for $2500. They were also used in forklifts.

Been trying to help my dad find a Volvo 240, seems so rare these days though

hopefully not as a daily driver. Far safer and more comfortable cars out there

but as a project car, they are getting pretty hard to find, esp in decent shape. So many of the nice , older ones have ben sold cheap to hooligans and trashed.:heckno:

OTOH, there are a few out there I've seen in dt Vancouver still being driven by their original owners. Just a matter of time before they are up for sale

n 2014 GM was forced to issue a number of recalls that affected as many as 28 million cars worldwide due to faulty ignition switches. The problem meant that the ignition could be switched off during driving, stopping the airbags deploying in the case of a crash. The fault has so far been attributed to 42 deaths. Shockingly, GM knew about the problem for over a decade before taking action, and is under investigation to determine why it took so long to act.

I work at GM and there are average 100+ appointments each week with different recalls. (Not just ignition) ^^ its getting ridiculous I keep thinking to myself it has to start slowing down soon.. how many gms are even on the island ... that was 6 months ago and were still packed with recalls every single make year and model has atleast 1.

I did but didn't pull the trigger. High $20k for late eighties GM technology could not be justified at this time. It was going to been a storage queen anyway. Maybe later on in life.

I did buy an EVO IX and although it wasn't on my "list", it was still a car I wanted to own at one point so I could compare it to the GD STI.

I gave up. The weak dollar just doesn't work when it comes to finding sought after enthusiast cars.

Oh man, it's been such a dream killer the last year. I had 997 Turbo's and NSX's on the brain but those ideas burned in a fire like our dollar.

Not super actively looking, but still on the hunt for a Rust-Free 1973 VW Super Beetle. Will take a '74-78, but '73 is definitely the preferred year. Has to be rust free, no sunroof. Colour, interior and mechanical condition are irrelevant. It's getting completely torn down for my next build.

That one is pretty mint looking for a 22 year old car though. I'm also guessing the price is higher since there's a much smaller market for cars in PG.

PMed him but by the time I got to him there were already a significant amount of people interested in taking a look at the car. He said he'd get back to me by Monday (today) but I am assuming a sale is pending already.

The local GSRs are a bit out of my price range, but I'm tempted especially by the super stock silver one on the FS thread...

Yeah I REALLY wanted to own 2 Buicks by the summertime...

:derp:

But that's after giving up on cars that I was searching for. Too many flakes, asking prices way too high (like everything else in this fucking province) and just not enough variety to choose from when it came to the models I searched for.

Thankfully, if I wanted to, I can flip my second car but I just don't care right now. Getting the CL burnout lol

Owning 2 supercharged cars is nice enough for now
