-1990 Miata
-10 years, from 2001 to 2011. Bought it with 90k, sold it with 270k.
-Sidewaysness. Roof down on sunny days. Autocross.
-Loudness on highway (exhaust needed replacing). Leaky roof. Being called gay.
-It was getting tired and needing work and I was getting a bit tired of driving it daily. I decided to sell it cheap and get a newer car with more seats and doors and a roof rack and better fuel economy and lots of boring stuff like that.
-No.
-It was Miata #397 off the production line, I think April 1989. It weighed 2100lb with a quarter tank of fuel. I got sideways in it all the time but somehow never spun out. Got sideways in the snow on the Coq at 140kmh. I learned to autocross in it in ES class, with r-comp tires and koni yellow stocks and RB front sway bar. I autocrossed at a Porsche club event and beat all the Porsches. Did the same at a Supra event. I learned how to drive in this car and I loved it.
Pic is from the day I bought it!

1991.5 Accord EX-R
http://i.imgur.com/0OcbIht.jpg
-How long did you own it?

Love the style of early 90's Hondas. I like the small visual mods I did to it (painted trim, new Accord logos, clear turning signals, booming stereo)
-What did you hate about it?
Had ALL the typical Honda 200K problems
-Why did you sell it?
Was moving to a different country
-Did you have sex in it?
HJ only
-Any other interesting facts?
Sold it to an RS member, who lowballed the fuck out of me AFTER we met to do the sale, but I was leaving the country so I had to let it go.

Partial trade for my Prelude.

- seafoam green 1972 Volvo 142s
- about a year?
- loved the bar speedo, and the straight pipes
- hated the rust, and it was offensive to all the senses
- sold it because I blew the motor
- never had sex in a car before; I respect them too much
- cool car for a kid to own. Learned a lot and wrenched a lot. Thing was made completely of rust. But dual carbs, 4 on the floor and rwd. Come on!

-What was it?
2004 Honda Civic coupe, bone stock
-How long did you own it?
Oct 2010 to June 2014
-What did you love about it?
Really low KM, fully loaded, nice color, being one of the only guys in Gr. 12 with a car too was pretty awesome
-What did you hate about it?
Everything else. Automatic, slow, not very entertaining nor fun to drive...
-Why did you sell it?
Bought an AE86, which in retrospect would have been a much more fun and educational car... only downside is bitches wouldn't have loved it
-Did you have sex in it?
Yup, many many times. Snail trails all over the back seat.... what, I was in high school!
-Any other interesting facts?
I had to smack the interior lights to get them to work, oftentimes. But never replaced a bulb in the 4 years I owned it.
Also, though I've owned 4 other cars since then, I've only ever gotten ANY traffic ticket in the Civic. One for excessive speed, which lost me my license during the N stage, and another for illegal u-turn. Which is why I refuse to believe that certain cars are "profiled" by cops... my AE is a "cop magnet" I've never gotten a ticket. IMO it's all about how you drive!

-What was it? 1983 Mazda RX7
-How long did you own it? 4 years
-What did you love about it? It was my first car and a manual. I wasn't terrible at driving it, but I got pulled over the few times I drove it alone lol. My sunroof actually worked (it was manual, you had to open/close it by hand and take it out BEFORE you drove anywhere, also it hurt A LOT if you dropped it on your head) and I never had an issue with my lights/electricals not working.
-What did you hate about it? It was carbed. Previous owner improperly installed a start button, it drained the battery even after it was disconnected.
-Why did you sell it? I actually had it scrapped, it had really bad rust problems
-Did you have sex in it? Newp

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
-drove it for three years.
-loved that V8 engine.
-didn't like the soft suspension.
-No sex in that ride.
I sold it because it gave me expensive gas bills.
Friends called it the "boat" because of the soft suspension and the big steering wheel. The steering wheel reminded them of a ship's wheel. :lawl:

Yup, multiple times. The fact that it was a 4 door made clean up easy.
-Any other interesting facts?
At one point the exhaust got so rusted that driving to one of my friends place it actually snapped in the middle. I ended up using a piece of pipe and two U clamps to "fix it". What a piece of fckin garbage this was. But thats student budget for you.

2- 4 years
3- Comfy, reliable, Crushed Velvet seats :sweetjesus:, functional, RELIABLE
4- No driving dynamics, Buick image
5- Cylinder 5 misfire. Not worth a repair
6- Respect cars too much to defile them
7- Made me appreciate a Buick for what it offers. Stigma yes but Buick engines are just straight beast for potential & reliability. Mine went up to 275,000 km before an engine misfire. This was with mediocre maintenance throughout my ownership

2000 silver Mazda MPV
-How long did you own it?
4 years
-What did you love about it?
It was a beater car so the bro and I drove the crap out of it. Not to mention, the 2.5L Duratec V6 loved to rev to redline and 4 speed auto changed gears with zest.
-What did you hate about it?
It sucked on gas mileage.

What was it?
2004 Ford crown Victoria. Decommissioned Abbotsford RCMP cruiser
-How long did you own it?
2 months. Me being stupid young teenager wrecked it :tears: :QQ:
-What did you love about it?
It was so simple and basic yet it was one of the most enjoyable cars to drive around. It was also reliable unlike other fords.
-What did you hate about it?
How everyone slowed down to 50, in some cases people went as slow as 40km/h when I was behind them. Also, this car was a huge cop magnet. I got pulled over almost 90% of the time I drove this car.
-Why did you sell it?
I wrecked it after losing control and diving into a ditch at 40km/h :alone:
-Did you have sex in it?
-Any other interesting facts?
Car came equipped with bullet proof equipment so I can run away from a Surrey jack while he's shooting at me. Also I was apparently the first guy to own a decommissioned police car In Richmond according to the police lol. Can't say if that true or not
Car also came with all the original RCMP vinyls and reflectors from the dealer. Apparently the dealer we responsible for removing everything to truly decommission it but they got lazy and gave me a fully decorated cop car... Which I later got in huge shit for :alone:
edit:
also to add on. The car got wreckd after i slid into a ditch going 40 with passanger side in. the whole right side of the car was crunched in and caved in. ALTHOUGH, BEING SUCH AN AWESOME CAR, IT STILL RAN AND DROVER FIEN :tears: :QQ: my car was such a trooper

cheap on gas, great off road capabilities :lol
4. What did you hate about it? Analog radio that didn't really work except for AM stations, 3 speed auto that made it slow enough to be a road hazard
5. Why did you sell it? Headgasket started to leak and I was looking to upgrade anyways

7. Any other interesting facts? I took it up a service logging road to go grad camping during high school, it fared better than a lot trucks that friends borrowed from their parents :lawl:
The sticker on the back was to cover up a BCAA sticker that was taking paint away with when I tried to take it off
8. Post some pics.
I parked it in a parking lot for a day and when I came back it had a hockey stick spoiler some electrical tape wrap job

It was/is still the most fun I've had in a car on the streets, no one bats an eye when you're flooring it.
-What did you hate about it?
Couldn't get up SFU mountain at more than 80KPH

It's still in my heart.
-Did you have sex in it?
Yes, surprisingly lots of room in the backseat
-Any other interesting facts?
Lots of offers to buy it surprising to us, we never sold it because the car was just great.

1992 ford tempo. paid 600$ for it.
-How long did you own it?

-What did you love about it?
In alberta it's a pain in the ass to buy a used car because if it's older then 10 years you need to get an inspection done to register it. I bought it from a mechanic who did an inspection for me so I didn't have to deal with all that crap. It was pretty decent in the snow, it was an easy car to learn manual with and it was somewhat good on gas.
-What did you hate about it?
Previous owner put plastic c-tire hood scoops on it. for some dumb ass reason he also installed a passenger seat in the drivers seat and didn't reattach the seatbelt latch, and for some weird reason he stripped the bolt to attach a seatbelt latch. So the front seats only had one passenger belt. COMPLETELY ILLEGAL. If I ever had a passenger we would need to tie the seatbelts together. All other times I'd attach mine to the passenger latch. It was rusty as fuck. Every two months there would be a new problem. Battery issues, power steering went, then in the last 3 months I owned it the climate control fan went in a massive spark show. Last 3 months were during the summer so I had to suffer with no a/c. Then the key broke off in the ignition and I didn't have a spare. The previous owner broke off the door locks so no one could steal it. Eventually I locked myself out and had to break the window to get in. Didn't even both taping it up as I was getting a new car in a couple weeks. I had it crushed once I bought a new car. Curse this piece of illegal shit.
-Did you have sex in it?
foreveralone. funny story though. I picked up this smokin hot girl for a ice cream date and halfway to dairy queen sparks started to shoot out from under the dash. I get within a block of DQ and a massive puff of smoke comes from under the dash and the car completely stops. We had to push it to the side of the road. We then went to DQ and had our date then I dealt with my piece of shit car. Never seen that girl afterwards. turns out the previous owner installed a command start and the wire connecting it to the CPU caught on the gas pedal and it pulled out a few other wires and blew a fuse.
-Any other interesting facts?
I parked it at my moms acreage when i left for school. A year later I came home and needed it for work. when I opened the trunk a family of mice had made a large nest in there.

-What was it?
1997 Acura Integra SE

-What did you love about it?
Unbelievably reliable. Torquey for a little 4-banger. Super practical hatchback. Pretty nice 5spd tranny.
-What did you hate about it?
Interior was dated before the car rolled off the assembly line. Pretty barren on the options list. Weird-looking front end.
-Why did you sell it?
Saved $20k, bought a BMW.
-Did you have sex in it?
Yes.
-Any other interesting facts?
I sold the car to an Irish lady in her 70's. She was moving to rural France... and after buying the Integra from me, she packed up all her belongings into the hatchback and shipped it to Paris. It is now probably one of a handful of Integras in France, where the Acura brand does not exist.

-What was it?
1989 Audi 90 Quattro
-How long did you own it?
8 years, and 700,000km
-What did you love about it?
So many things...
- It was partially responsible for my love of rally. At 16 years old I was flipping channels and the Sprongl brothers went sliding by the screen in the same car my mom owned. I was hooked on rally from that moment on.
- The dashboard will forever be my favorite. There is just something about the B3 chassis dashboards that are so 'right'. Its the perfect design, and that orange-red lighting is perfect too. I could literally sit in the driver's seat for hours on end just enjoying the artistry of that design. To this day I carry the orange-red lighting over into each of my project cars as a homage to the car.
- Um, rally car? It started as my street car in high-school and Uni. Halfway through uni I stripped it for rally. We won races together, we lost races together, we wrecked and rebuilt together. I think my Audi was closer to having a great golden retriever than a car, if I'm honest...
-What did you hate about it?
Nothing. The last few years it was definitely underpowered, but after so many kilometers and experiences together...you can't really hate anything about it.
-Why did you sell it?
I was honestly bored with it. Having moved to the west coast, classic cars were much more practical than in Toronto and I longed to return to my first love of VW beetles (I didn't _buy_ a beetle, so technically the Audi was my first...though I've been driving my '75 beetle since I was 13). After 800,000km the shell was getting a little long in the tooth, though without any major issues. The transmission was a problem due to a racing incident, and when I drained large (10mm) chunks of syncro out of it I knew it was a matter of time. I saved the car for my little brother, and when he got his N I tossed him the keys and told him it was his for as long as the transmission held out. He got a good few months before it lost Reverse, 2nd and 3rd gear. Then I put it up on CL
-Did you have sex in it?
I owned an Audi in High School and University, and then a race car in my 20's. What do you think?
-Any other interesting facts?
The first engine was swapped out for a more powerful unit at 600,000km. The original engine went into my street audi and did a further 200,000km before I sold the car. Apparently it was swapped into a third shell and kept going. Audi 5 cylinders for the win!
When I moved across country with the car, I brought all the wheels and tires I had for it as well. Between gravel tires, track tires and winter tires I had 48 tires/rims in storage plus the 6 that were on/in the car. For years after I sold it I was giving away rims and tires!
In the winter your feet would freeze because the metal floors were so cold. The foot-well heaters weren't very effective, and I have 1-size-up racing shoes just so I could fit wool socks in the winter. The summer, on the other-hand, was brutal. The transmission tunnel would get so hot it would burn your leg if you were wearing shorts. To this day I have less leg hair on my right outside calf than my left.
The day I bought the car:

1987 Toyota Celica GTS Coupe
-How long did you own it?
~2 years
-What did you love about it?
It was a bright red 5 speed 2 door and I was 16, it doesn't get a whole lot better. The seats are still the comfiest I have ever sat in, it was fully loaded and absolutely everything worked, the interior was mint and of course I put a big stereo in it when the stock tape deck started launching tapes at me.
-What did you hate about it?
Not so great all season tires and stock shocks, and a little bit of rust. Oh and the oil leak was a bit of a hassle but not bad.
-Why did you sell it?
I spun a bearing at 468k, the JDM replacement engine I ordered was junk, and eventually I ran out of time and my parents made me scrap it :(
-Did you have sex in it?
Oh of course. Tonnes. Yep definitely lots of sex.
-Any other interesting facts?
I know the whole ownership history of the car, the original owner was the sales rep for Kelowna Toyota in the late 80's, he drove it for 2 years then switched to the 5th gen and the owner of the Penticton Kal Tire bought it and commuted from Kelowna to Pen and back every day. Because of that it had 437k and a flawless interior when I bought it since all it did was drive 1 guy up and down the highway every day (I found a shitload of french fries when I cleaned under the center console though). Eventually he traded in back into Kelowna Toyota and then I bought it at 15.

Loved that nobody could beat me... Especially in the Friday night meets back on river road in ft. Langley... If anyone remembers those
Hated that it was too heavy and was constantly fixing it.
Sold it because I bought a muscle car, and needed a change.
Of course had sex in it. Was a huge folding back seat and massive trunk. Made it in to a bed and had many great times in it.
Modded with upgrade blower, suspension, internals, and much much more.

Doesn't look too bad, but the entire front suspension was pushed in. This happened last February/March ... I got pissed and just parked it.
I've got the parts sitting in the garage ... now to just spend the time to get the rim fixed, put on the new parts, and get an alignment.
Maybe one day I'll get bored and throw a lift on it, and make it my winter car. But for now it's a paperweight in my garage

-Drank/wasted fuel like crazy! nobody knew how to service/repair the stock single SU carb on it. The only places that did were MB and I didn't have the money for that. Since starting my reply to this thread, I will always have a respect for a stock, good running car. I guess that's how I can buy a $5500 ford Focus 2 years ago and be content with it. Sure it's nice to have a fancy car with doo dads with all the gizmos, but when I think about having it bad, I think back to when I graduated HS and was given this as my first car. I was sooo broke and hardly made any money at my part time jobs, yet was encouraged to go and get a student loan and start university as opposed to work to get a decent car. My parents were in no financial situation to help me out much either.
The good old days weren't always so good.
The car was exactly the same as the one below, but all the same shade of brown.
My GF at the time was amazed I was able to sell that thing!

-What was it?
94 Mercedes SL 60 AMG (1 of less than 300?)
-How long did you own it?
3 years
-What did you love about it?
It was the best car I have ever driven, 400HP+ and 4 speed box geared for 300kmh made it feel like it endlessly accelerated. And the old M119 6.0 V8 running straight pipes was the most glorious noise I had ever heard.
-What did you hate about it?
The wiring harness that fell apart, and I was too poor to replace. Constantly had electrical malfunctions and convertible top sensors had been screwed around with so it never worked properly. HATED the fact that Mercedes fanboi's would tell me no such car existed, esp dumbass Merc service advisors... And the cost of replacing rare vintage AMG parts was insane, a bumper was priced out at 11K...
-Why did you sell it?
After I completely bankrupted myself fixing it, I saw the oil pressure drop under acceleration and a strange noise from the motor developed so I got rid of it. I wish I toughed it through and held onto it. From what I've heard, guy who has it now totally ruined the car.... I might punch him in the face if I ever see him...
-Did you have sex in it?
:D was fitted with very rare rear seats..
-Any other interesting facts?
Originally was sold in Sudan, then was shipped to Germany, then to UK, then Japan.....then came here with a huge collection of records from around the globe.
I want you back... :okay::okay::okay:

Still own it, currently my DD and project.

everything, been my dream car since i was in high school. Best mix of performance, reliability, practicallity. Its the car i grew up in, the car i turned my gf at the time into my wife. Every good memory from 17-32 years old is associated in some way shape or form with this car.
-What did you hate about it?
rust.. but i reconciled the fact that every 6 years, doing body work is factored into the cost of owner ship.
-Why did you sell it?
never will
-Did you have sex in it?
i've been with my wife longer then i've had the car......
-Any other interesting facts?
My first job out of high school, i worked at lougheed acura as a detailer. The original owner traded it in to buy a 01 CL-S. It was bone stock with 127000km, It currently has 390000km. When i bought it, it had a clean title never been stolen or broken into. In my ownership I've been able to maintain that clean title which is amazing considering how bad auto theft was in the early 2000's.
In 2001 i took out a $5000 student loan and the first thing i did was buy a GSR motor swap.. Its been though 5 different engine combinations in its life time.
i still have the same licence plate as in the pic.
