Very cool to see the ad now that it has been released.

Scouting agent stopped by the house about 2 months ago and offered a sizable amount of money to use the driveway for filming for 1 day. The whole process was very cool. The dropping of the concrete block on the Mazda CX-7 was quite the site. Interesting to see it now with the CGI added and address changed. The whole neighborhood was out watching during the day. Wife is home on mat leave so it was cool for her to see it all go down. 2pm drinks with the neighbors!! The production company was very professional and accommodating. Full clean up afterwards. No hassles, no problems.

Sweet! I had a film company interested in my house for a weekend.. I think it was for the TV show Psych. Sadly they chose another house. Would have been cool to see it on TV. Not to mention the amount of $ they offer up, plus hotel + per diems etc.

Now your place is "on file" as well, they might come back if your home fits certain criteria in future.

It was a few thousand bucks. Set up at 7am, cleaned up and gone by 6pm. Wife was home all day so she gets it :(

No damage to anything at all. They gave us a damage deposit as well at the beginning. By 6pm everything was clean and they even swept my garage floor. If anything my house was cleaner. Easiest money my wife has ever made. Would love to do it again.

I had a tv show filmed in my house about 6 years ago. The show as called Blood Ties, and they damaged a bunch of our walls and the floor in our kitchen. They payed for the damages but I guess that's show business. I still was nice seeing a bunch of crown vics running around my my neighborhood with their lights on as part of the filming.

When I lived/worked on Bowen Island there was a Shaw commercial being filmed at a mansion/oceanfront cottage nextdoor to where I was repairing a hottub. There was a fully catered tent outfront and I was invited to all the food I wanted. Those people eat well and there was eye candy everywhere.

People get into film because it is full of people willing to fuck their way up the ladder

Casting couch started in Hollywood, not porn

All those guys at bars buying girls drinks and paying PUA guys for lessons when directors and producers fuck tons of hopefuls who give their bodies away for free just for a chance...

Yup. Male and female. The gay men do not care if you are gay or not, so better pepper your angus.

Yup production companies will pay a few thousand to use your house for a day to shoot something. The best way is to call up a location scout and they'll send someone out to check your place. If interested, they'll take a bunch of photos and add it to a list of available places next time a director is looking for a location.

Keep in mind that shooting something in your garage/driveway is quite different than if the shot inside your home. You leave your home for a day and while you're gone, there will be many MANY people invading your personal space. All your furniture gets moved around, bookshelves emptied, family photos, kids art on the fridge, appliances on your counter, it all gets shoved somewhere. (Actually if you're smart you'll remove all those things yourself in advance). The crew takes over your house, walking in and out, taking a shit in your toilet, etc. Inevitably something always gets damaged or misplaced. And bored clients sit around with nothing to do so they poke around your things too.

It's true though that if it's a good production company, they'll everything possible to minimize damage. They'll (usually) take their shoes on and off, tape cardboard to wall corners, and they take photos of everything before they move it so they have references on where exactly to put it back. And yes usually they do a pretty good job cleaning your place when they're done. And then you'll get paid a few thousand dollars.

And yeah the food on a film shoot is always top notch. The crew works hard and so they have to feed them well. Just do yourself a favour and don't come home during the day if you don't want to see the chaos! ;)
