: Universal fender flares?

Just wondering if anyone has any info on local shops that may carry those universal rivet FRP fender flares so that I could test fit some? My next set of wheels will be quite wide and I'm toying with the idea of getting wider fenders to further flare the already flared stock fenders of my car. I know there's a vendor on eBay based in Richmond but I couldn't find any info on whether or not they actually have a storefront which has stock on the fenders and allow for test fits. I have yet to take any measurements of my stock fender/wheel well dimensions but I would still prefer to physically see the fenders in person and sort of compare them to the stock fenders to get an idea of how they will fit.

That will look ridiculous on your Element as they are much too round, on a square vehicle. Put that money towards your Miata :p

Universal flares are fucking gross.

They only look good on a very select few vehicles (Fairlady, AE86, ???) and I guarantee it'll look super trash on your element.

I absolutely regretted doing it to my car from the moment it was completed.

Stick with your stock body, you'll be far happier.

i see a few problems with this

1) its a element
2) u already have plastic over fenders stock, cutting that and mounting fender flares on plastic is a terrible idea
3) u will look like every scion xb on fender flares if u do

I found some wide OEM flares. They have holes for fasteners and everything.

Meh, not really concerned on comments about how it will look as I'll find a way to make it work I'm sure. My primary concern is whether or not I'll even be able to get rivets into plastic :suspicious:

Also, the only reason I'm getting fender flares is so I don't mexiflush all over the place with the 17x10 +20 wheels I'll be ordering once my current tires wear out.

I was also looking at fender flares which use 3M double sided tape. I've been told apparently they will fly off when driving? My OEM window visors are held on with 3M double sided tape for the last year through various speeds and are still stuck on?

Maybe I'll just get wheels that fit :okay:

Element with fender flares 3m taped onto plastic with 17x10 +20 :heckno: I would rather keep the setup you have on there compared to that...

Bruhhhhhh. You're doing this all wrong, you don't fit aggressive wheels by using flares. That's like cheating.

This is how you are supposed to do it:

Ever hear the expression? "if you try to make everybody happy you end up making nobody happy" thats kinda like "universal" fender flares. they fit pretty much nothing without some filling sanding heating and basic reshaping.

^^^Agree with trollguy

I think it will be pretty unique, with the right set of wheels I think it would really set off those flares! Not a huge fan of using 3M tape though, do it right and rivet them on!

I think you'd need to cut off your stock flares and get some for a truck to make it look kinda right, but finding the right size wouldn't be easy.

Because not enough stacenation canibeat hellaflush bro gotta rustle ALL the jimmies bro bruh breh :troll:

Also yes the wheels in question are the Saleen reps which I think are pretty shitty reps because they look nothing like the real thing, but sort of have their own real clean look to them. Also they look pretty amazing powdercoated all white, which is what I will be doing :sweetjesus:

Actually did a little more research, found an Element with the exact same wheels. Apparently 17x10 +20 fits fine in the rear with around the same amount of negative camber I'm running (-5, maybe even less). Same wheels up front stick out like a sore thumb so will probably be a better idea to run the 17x9 +24...though I have no idea what tires he's running but they certainly look wider and higher profile than the current overall diameter of my wheel/tire setup so they might actually work without overfenders :accepted:

In any case, rocketz replied and said I'm welcome to drop by and do test fits for their fenders, so I'll do that and see how it goes. Will report back.

I can see the fenders working, been in that spot many times where I ask for feedback on some wild idea and half the people doubt the idea.

Like my tan top on my red Miata, red wheels on my white GTI, wheels that don't fit etc. When it's done, you won't keep wondering how it'll look because you did it. If you regret the look you can always go back or just change it up another time around. As for others, some will dislike and some will come up to you and say it actually turned out better than they thought it would vice versa.

Did a little research on them before when i wanted to put them on my bagged GTI. The ZG rear flares all around would probably work best for your Element fenders because of how flat they are. They're flexible so it's all down to the rivet install process. DO NOT 3M tape because once the wheels touch the flare they will fly off.

Good luck!

Here you see the front flare more round and along the shape of the fender curve. Rear flares will be better.

Universal flares (actually designed for a 240sx):

Proper all-metal custom flares:

Say no to generic flares. Just say no.

^ his fenders are plastic though.

Looking at the silver Element I wonder if you could heat and pull the flat part at the fender lip out enough to make it a continuation of the factory flares? Since it looks like you don't need to bring the body out much to properly match the width of those tires.
