: ICBC Repair; getting car repaired after owner change

So last year I got rear ended while waiting at a red light. Really minor, made a scrape probably not even an inch but what the hell, knew it'd be 100% other party's fault so I made the claim. Brought it in to an adjuster, had it estimated, deductible waived. I heard I had 2 years to get it repaired, and with work/school, I never got around to getting it repaired. At the time, my dad was the owner of the car. Since the accident, I had the ownership transferred to me. Will I still be able to get it repaired?

Dug out the documentation of the estimate, and my dad's name is written on it, and the old plate number. Obvious the VIN is the same and everything though so hopefully it should be fine.

Going to call up ICBC in the next few days anyway, but just wanted to see if anyone here knew the answer. Honestly not a huge deal... didn't really care much about it and you can barely see it hence why I never got it repaired yet. Rear lip I'm getting will cover it anyway but I'm also getting a few other parts painted and was hoping I'd get a discount since they'd be mixing the paint anyway.

Well it's your dad so heaven forbid he has take it to the shop because the claims under his name... I'm sure he'd do that for his son, no?

Transfer of the ownership is the confusing part but the repairs do have to be made within a year.

As far as I know if it's been transferred you can't make a claim, and repairs have to be made within 2 years.
