This has/is competing in the LeMans 24hr. It did rather well in fact.
As for being R36 test vehicle, I dont think that is the case. Its an LMP1 class car in the FIA WEC so its a tech vehicle. May use some features of it in some way, but far from being a production testing vehicle.

Its qualified 11th, 13th and 14th for its first ever races. Rather impressive.
The FIA WEC has always been more interesting than F1 IMO.

FF, front engine front wheel drive. The reason why it looks behind the axles is because of the way the trans is situated.

F1 will always have its fan base, reaching out to a majority, but for quality racing, I've always strongly believed FIA WEC is far superior.
Hoping to catch WEC @ COTA this year. :hotbaby:

While I'm not rooting for any particular team or manufacturer, it's a real shame for Nissan, really. They came up with 3 cars and couldn't pull through. I was really hoping to see at least Nissan put up a fight with at least Toyota, seeing they are/were the only defacto Japanese manufacturer to take part in the series.

Nissan still have 2 out of 3 cars still in the race.. for their first time out it is not that bad.. the 919 had issues during their first year too.

It was expected that Nissan would not do well with this car. There was talk about this LMP1 not being properly finished and that the intend on having it a 4wd hybrid setup on the car come next season.
Last season Toyota destroyed everyone but Audio came back with a vengeance and Porsche sorted out there 919 making for an interesting race in the LMP1 lineup. Sad to see fewer LMP2 cars every year. I enjoyed that catagory as well as the GT3 stuff.
The Blancpain GT series is always fun to watch too. It's like GT3 racing with NASCAR contact. That and the Tudor series.
Love me endirance/GT races.

Today's race is just killing cars. Good race, though it's a little sad to see the GTR's get pulled.
Meanwhile, at today's Indy Lights race...

Final results are in - Nissan's factory team in LMP1 retired 2 cars and one didn't manage to qualify.
Too bad. Better luck at the next races and next year.

Webber could have won Le Mans were it not for his car-mates penalty! I guess 2nd isn't bad....story of Webbers life :lol
gj to Hulkenberg and his car of LeMans rookies though
as for the GTR,
“Ben [Bowlby, designer] has done a new aero kit and it is in production now; we have five or six days testing before the Nurburgring,” said Cox. “We’ll be there.”

I know it's been mentioned in the thread before, I'd like to see how it goes head to head with Toyota, despite it not being totally up to snuff or fully ready compared to the other manufacturers.

Considering Toyota places 1 & 2 this year.....I think the Nissan would not do so well :P
The TS040 has proven to be the best machine since the TS010.
Give Nissan another season to work things out and possibly implement the AWD/Hybrid systems to the LMP1 platform and I know it will be up there for sure. Also looking forward to seeing Ford in there as well....and now talks of a Chevy LMP1 program.....if so next season will be amazing.
