In the US, there was a knee-jerk reaction to ban the Confederate flag due to the killing of 9 black people by an angry white man who wrote a manifesto detailing his grievances with blacks. This person had black friends.

Instead of a discussion that focuses on the issues of mental health and diffusing the causes of this rage-killing, which are some actual facts about the state of black crime rates, instead the fingers are pointed at a flag.

These same fingers will conveniently point at lowered Civics for being street racers, the Qur'an for radicalizing muslims, and guns for murders. Emotional people will react like this.


Now all I'm trying to say is, if they're trying to prevent racism and diffuse people from being angry over crime statistics and behavior witnessed that causes insane, rage-filled white men to shoot up innocent black people, look at the root causes of this angst. Blaming a flag is just as easy as blaming the Qur'an for 9/11 or NOS kits for street racing deaths.

This type of media is fueled by websites like World Star Hip Hop that propagate black stereotypes by mixing music and lowest-common-denominator fighting and sex videos into a toxic culture that creates more thugs and fuels more anti-black racism.


Why is there a national critique of the Confederate flag, yet the very website that this video is made for, surprisingly not mentioned with a "WORLD STAR!" shoutout in the video, silently continues on to program the next generation with ill behaviors?


We've all seen videos with "Allahu akbar" being shouted before something blows up, and we've all seen videos where someone gets knocked out and someone yells "WORLD STAR!". The Qur'an, Hip Hop and the Confederate flag are not to blame and banning any of the above three are wrong, however, the people using those religions, art forms, and symbols for the purpose of evil are not cast-out by the silent majority of people who peacefully enjoy those creations.


TL;DR Symbols are not the problem, it is the people associated with them that are. Banning or removing something will only make it worse.

To youth and children, you can show the Confederate flag and then spend time teaching them the history of the Civil war, the flag, and why southerners feel it is a part of their culture of patriotism that doesn't have to reflect slavery or anything negative. Children can be taught to see that it is just a piece of cloth.
