: pulled over for allegedly running a solid red

i was getting off of work at 3am~ about a week ago and got pulled over after crossing the cambie street bridge southbound

the officer said i had ran a solid red before the bridge and was lucky that "she didnt have her ticket book on her"

after the incident i went home to review the dashcam footage and i did not run a solid red

in this case, if i had not had my footage and DID receive a ticket, how likely would it have been for me to have lost the case?

Uhhh looks like not only did you not run red, the light didn't even turn yellow? Basically you ran a solid green?

IDK what part of the vid I'm supposed to watch cause all the lights were green.

My best guess would be that it was a slow night and she wanted an excuse to pull you over. I've never encountered a cop that didn't have a ticket book close by, unless they were on foot.

maybe she thought you were cute and wanted a closer look :troll:

My guess, it was a slow night and she pulled you over to make sure you weren't drunk, and made up an excuse when you weren't.

Thats rubbish....maybe bring it to a news channel. Get some media attention :troll:

Seriously though, if you didn't have a dash cam, you'd be screwed.

Why didn't you post the footage of the alleged running of the red light. All we can see is you pulled over already.

Were there any other intersections near the bridge that the officer might have incorrectly remembered as the last one before the bridge?

LOL if that happened to me and I knew I was right "No, you should totally write me a ticket..." :troll:

Seriously what sort of police officer doesn't have a ticket book?

I guess you don't have the officer's information since there was no ticket?

I would totally want to have the officer view this footage, not so much to prove she was wrong, but as a wake up call and to maybe get her eyes checked.

another reason to have adashcam =P
2 years ago I was pulled over by a female cop stating I ran the red. I told her it just turned yellow and i have it on video. She didn't like that and said this isnt a debate but after sometime she returned with my license saying have a good night.

when you turned right on to nelson, was that light red?? Did you stop at all when you made the right turn?

from the video it looks like you turned right from cambie on to nelson, no? was that light red??

post the video footage of you making the right turn. because I wonder if that's what she was talking about.

Filing a complaint isn't gonna do much, but then it doesn't hurt to do it. But if that was me, I would've gave it to news outlets and escalate it. Our cops have way too much control and power. They need to learn not to take advantage of it. This is a clear cut example. Of course she didn't have her "ticketing book", she knows you haven't committed an offense.

at this time of the night, i've been pulled over before because "one of my brake lights was not working", went home and all of them were perfectly fine.

She was probably referring to you turning right on a red without stopping fully, instead of talking about the green light captured on the dashcam.

From the video it looks like you turned right from Cambie to Nelson. Because the light at Beatty is green, i'm 99% sure the light at Cambie was probably green for traffic southbound on Nelson (these lights are synced).

The weird thing is she said she saw your brake lights didn't come on, but you said she spotted you from the top of the hill (assuming on Nelson), which is kind of impossible to do both.

+1

don't file a complaint, they won't give 2 shits about your story since they get something like that all the time.

You probably looks shady because only bad people and cops are out on the streets at that time. You're either one or the other. And since you're not a cop, then you are a bad guy according to the cops :agree:
