Can I have my properly sized Civic Si back please?

Keep in mind that interior shot is likely from the base trim. Looks like the car is going to look exactly like the patent drawings. Can't say I'm a fan of it right now as the front fender portion looks kinda off and it's side profile looks something along the lines of an integra with it's long sloping roof connecting to the trunk kind of thing

Best new EF/ED/EG on the market is the Fiesta ST. Its the car Honda should have been smart enough to build if they weren't too busy chasing the "point A to B transportation" market.

Hondas announcement of going back to making fun exciting cars is great, we will see if they can live up to that in the next few years. Making the Type R and Civic a world platform is a good start.

Good point about the FiST. Unfortunately, I can't get over its overly busy interior design. Something like this was already perfect:

http://jdmcivic.publishpath.com/Websites/jdmcivic/PhotoGallery/378357%5Cfront%20dash.jpg

Why do we need so much complexity and overwrought designs? Why mess with perfection in simplicity when we already had it?

Ya, I know I am an old fart that still lives in the good ol'days...

I'm impressed with entry level cars because not only are they becoming more visually appealing but they're coming with tons of options which you would never imagine you would see available on cars under $20k.

And on the topic of great entry level cars, my mom just got a new Corolla and it has tons of options including xenon headlamps, not bad for a car that cost $15k.

I'm coming from the other side. I've know how much better aftermarket parts are and fraction of the cost of what a similar stock part would be from the dealership. It's pathetic how little they really give you for such a high price.

Take a $500 aftermarket navigation for example, they come with Android/Car play, much higher quality screen and material, more radio stations to pick from, etc.

Meanwhile dealerships will charge you 1,500 to 5,000 for a navagation and not come even close to any of those features, on top of that they charge for navigation updates which should be free.

which means you are better off getting stock and doing the upgrades yourself in almost any car

which means you are better off getting stock and doing the upgrades yourself in almost any car

I did that and highly recommend it but some cars look kinda fugly with aftermarket decks. The ones with the round bubble dashes especially. I also noticed that more cars integrate car functionality in their screens which will cause problems.

Unlike the Accord Crosstour, the Civic here actually has some nice, clean, and taut lines, so it doesn't look anywhere nearly as dopey as the stupid Crosstour. But the Crosstour actually has a functional hatch, whereas this Civic monstrosity has the rear window line of a fastback / hatch, but it doesn't actually have a hatch lifegate!!! WTF?! All it's got is a tiny trunk opening.

I'm fine with Honda giving it a rear hatch window line, but at least make it a fxxking hatch liftgate!!! Otherwise, it should have stayed as a sedan.

Yah I really like the back side of the new Civic. I wonder how large of a trunk opening it has due to the "fastback" style design. Front end is forgettable and looks like any other Acura over the last few years.

Also looks like they tried to cram a lot of the stuff from the previous 2-tier gauges into 1-tier, which makes the central gauge look really busy. Very clean around the HVAC controls and navigation screen, but the area around the shifter looks super cheap.

Have to see it in person really to get a feel for it.

The thing that bugs me with the Corolla is, after all these years, it is still using essentially the same engine. Whereas with Honda and Mazda at least, they have developed completely new engines for their current cars.

That's cause the majority of Corolla owners are basic people. They just need an A-B car. The years of reliability the Corolla has, is a no brainer for someone who wants a car that will last. Hell I beat on my Corolla every day.. To this day its still solid. Nothing major was replaced and with the FSB and RSB it handles great. You might've seen mine at the VCMC AutoX(Took first place for novice in 2012). I dont see why Toyota would change the engine. Its great and does well. What they need to change is the damn crappy plastic interior. Then again its a Corolla there's always something to complain about. If it isn't the car its the driver.

Had a chance to drive the Honda Jade (a 6 seat Civic wagon) in Hong Kong with 1.5L Turbo 150hp. You will be disappointed, don't expect "OMG. 1.5L Honda engine with a Vtec turbo! teh fastar". I don't think the extra 25hp in the US model will be much different.

Anyway, had 6 people in the car, the performance is only adequate, even on straight road, the engine and CVT pull to above 4000rpm to accelerate. The whole setup is meant to be a fuel saving rather high rev ricer like the EK.

You know, with the upcoming Civic Si rumoured to have a detuned K20C1, I'm thinking the Si might be a smarter buy compared to the Type R. With modern turbos, an ECU tune would go a very long way, and that might bring the engine outputs close to what the stock Type R is capable of.

Another thing is, the Si is going to look a lot more understated than the CTR, and that's probably a good thing unless you are keen on attracting the cop's attention.

But at the end of the day, the Civic is a midsize car now. Do midsize sporty FWD cars have much of a market?

It's definitely an improvement from the previous Ridgeline, but they need to make the front look waaaay more rugged. It looks like it's trying to be a car up front, i think because of those headlights. Remind me of something off the TL.

^ its aiming to be a "urban" city truck. It has a mixed personality of rugged and luxury. It's definitely not really meant for construction/heavy duties. It's meant for families that prefer a truck over a suv which I think is the case with most families especially in the west coast.

I see families driving huge ram 2500s and struggling to take the kids out of the truck and putting the groceries in the bed etc. This Ridgeline fits the lifestyle of those people. It's a really practical and fuel efficient truck. It's in a class of its own.
