Thinking of either buying a waterless car wash thing from canadian tire.

Or going to a place for a touchless car wash, but I heard those chemicals can strip your sealant and stuff.

I go to a touchless down the street from me. Pay the $15+ then drive the car home and wipe it down with a microfiber. Then I either use a spray wax after or use my random orbital depending on how much time I got. Pain in the ass but what can you do I guess.

Probably haven't washed my car for close to 2 months. Usually once a week or so I'll just give the car a good rinse to get rid of all the loose dirt.
I'd rather not strip the wax off my car with commercial wash chemicals

I use high pressure soap for around 3-4 minutes and high pressure rinse for an additional 3-4 minutes and it gets the car 100% clean and ready for spray wax (I never use the brushes). Works like a charm and typically costs me less than $5 at the local wash bay which is a 5 minute drive from my residence. It's how I've been keeping my car clean for the past month or so.

I've been using Sanszo from Can Tire. Works fine. Buy a pack of microfibers. If you do it regularly it's pretty quick; gets more of a PITA when the car's dirtier.

I know touchless washes have eaten into the black trim on my car, so I don't do them anymore.

Was near the wash place on Royal Oak last week so I decided to drop in. My wheels are really the only things that get noticeably dirty, so a simple high pressure soap/rinse was good enough for me. Two bucks for a quick wash? Yes please.

I usually go to the wand wash in Port coquitlam.

For those that do wand washing what steps do you do when you go?

1. If lots of dead bugs from a trip ilI use pre soak setting
2. Soap high pressure rinse
3. Foam brush if it's really dirty *I usually hit the brush with a high pressure shot from the wand before use, and I know omg swirls from da brush*
4. High pressure rinse.

I usually let it air dry but, I'm sure the more caring people towel dry it afterwards.

Been looking into spray on detailers, any tips or quality off the shelf products worth using after a wand wash?

I bring my car to any wand wash place and use the brush just to loosen the brake dust from the surface of the wheels. There is usually some left over suds inside the brush and normally there is some standing water I can dip the brush in to keep it wet.

Then I'll just use high pressure rinse to clean the brush so the next user doesn't scrape brake dust all over his hood. After that, I'll high pressure rinse the paint and wheels to keep at least the hard surface dirt under control. I won't towel dry it since there is still thin layer of dirt that high pressure soap or rinse can't remove. Usually it costs me $2-$4 depending how quick I am.

Yesterday with my dad's car we used their grey water & a flower watering can to clean his car. Since the beginning of Stage 3 restrictions they have been collecting "cleanish" water in ice-cream buckets around the sinks as well as all rinse water from fruits/veg/laundry/clean dishes. One full rinse cycle in a top load laundry machine will use around 100L of water. There is always enough grey water to wash a car a couple times a week, water the grass, veg, fruit and flower beds on an average household property. It's amazing how much "cleanish" water goes down the drain!

Husky touchless at No.3 Rd and Blundell. Washes better than Washworld (on Steveston at least) and is only ~$7 if you buy a pack of 10.

I find the touchless works well if you have decent wax left on your car...so probably only for newer cars.

About 2 - 3 weeks ago, It didn't help the car was left in the sun as the soap and water from the pressure washer water dried out really quick. One of the guys who was washing just did circle motions on the hood then did a quick dip in the one bucket multiple times and went back to circle motions on the hood. There was hardly any water/soap in his wash mitt either. :heckno: It was weird cause for a good 15 minutes all he did was wipe the hood and front bumper. Interior was cleaned pretty well though, they got all the dirt and stains on the door sill.

I recommend just washing yourself at royal oak, but you can't really 2 bucket wash cause you can't fill the buckets up. Probably have to bring the water beforehand, since the water pressure is too strong to fill in the bucket.

1. We have a tarp covering our wash area so cars are never left out in the sun.

2. We have 3 buckets next to the cars at all times. one is for soap, one is for rinsing and one is for the wheels.

3. We don't randomly start soaping the car on the hood, we actually have a system for where to start.

4. We spend a total of 5 minutes soaping each car so it is not possible that we spent 15 minutes washing the hood and bumper.

5. There's only 3 working here in total ( including me) and we never do circular motions.

1. I made the effort to google the location and draw the location i was told to pull in. http://i.imgur.com/VUU7nUy.png
2. There was only one bucket I saw that was left on the passenger side wheel. Which was mainly used to wash the passenger side, hood, bumper.
3. The soap that was sprayed on after you pressure washed was dried out within minutes, car was not wet
4. The whole wash inside and out took about 45 - 50 minutes. Took 3 guys to wash, and it costed only 25 dollars I couldn't complain.
5.There was 3 people washing my car at the time. I came in on 7/31/15.

1. Again, we have 3 buckets, you probably didn't see our other buckets becasue we usually put them next to the wall, which is on the driver's side.
2. We do not spray the soap after we pressure wash it. We spray it, let it soak for a minute or two ( which is why you thought it was dry) . Then we pressure wash the whole vehicle and immediately start soaping it. As far as I know, water doesn't dry in the 10 seconds I put the hose down to start washing it.
3. We do not charge $25 for sedans like you car.

1. Sorry, I mean't driver side. I was sitting on your chair. had my directions messed up thought the right side was passenger. But I pulled in so my right is driver side. It was 1 bucket on driver side. I probably should have said something after he did my hood for like 3 - 4 minutes.
2.So you guys start washing with dry mitts after you foam gun the car with soap.
3.How much do you charge, for a basic wash, with interior. I also got a spray wax afterwards!

MaaaadMan
08-25-2015, 12:27 AM
1. I don't think you undertand. We spray the soap solution. Then we pressure wash. Then we soap. The gun that shoots out the soap is not a foam gun.

2. None of our mitts are ever dry. They are put in the Rinse bucket as soon as a customer comes in.

3. Small car ( mini coopers, hatchbacks etc) : $20
Sedans $23
Small SUV $25
Large SUV $27

Maybe you were'nt paying full attention. I think you should come back and I'll have you stand next to the car as I explain each step we do.

I got charged 23, at least the price was correct. Like I said for the price, you got 3 guys washing your car for almost an hour. I couldn't do that even if I paid all 3 minimum wage. That is worth. :toot:. My complaint was basically one guy did circular motions and dipped the wash mitt in the same bucket over and over again. I wish I took a photo, or atleast told the guy to stop and use two buckets. Idk why I didn't say anything FailFish. I know nothing. Plz rain vancouver. :QQ:

From my understanding you can water your plants. You just can't use the automated/manual sprinklers.

"Hand watering of trees, shrubs, flowers, decorative planters and vegetable gardens using a spring-loaded shutoff nozzle, containers or a drip irrigation system is permitted. "

I just cleaned the car for $3 at a wand wash place. Car is all clean. LOL.

I had part of my car XPEL wrapped by a local detailer so I can clean that part with just a wet towel. If I create any fine scratches it self heals within 30 minutes. The rest of the car has a hard ceramic coating so not much will stick to it. Perfect for quick pressure washes.

Thankfully I managed to wax both cars right before stage 3 went in, so every few weeks I've just been taking them to a wand wash.

Never using the brush of course, just a soak with the wash soap, then a rinse. Actually does a decent job.

My black car on the other hand... :heckno:

She needs a proper wash. The rinse method just ain't cuttin' it lol.

But even when we get rain, it's gonna take a while before the stage 3 is lifted. It's been dry for so long, we have a lot of catching up to do lol.
