Hey all,

So all of a sudden my ultrabook (an Asus Zenbook UX31A) died on me. When I try to charge it, the jack connected to the port is loose, and it looks like they're not making contact to charge (or maybe my charger is broken, but MemoryExpress wouldn't grab a charger for me to test it out). I just came back home from Memory Express, and it looks like I'm a couple of days past their 1 year warranty :okay:. They told me that there's a 56$ diagnosis fee and that labour is going to be 50$ /hr and then part costs. So does anyone know any places for laptop repair that isn't super expensive but does a relatively good job and not haggard my laptop when I get it back lol?

my cousin had this issue before with her zenbook and replaced the charger and it fixed the issue. cheap 30 dollar fix. I'm sure someone here has a zenbook and they would lend you their charger to help you out.

Did you have a look at the plug that connects to the laptop? Check to see if the pin is in there, and centered:

If it's pushed to one side, you can usually use a paperclip or ping to pull it back to the center.

If you think your charger is toast, why not buy one of those Coolermaster laptop chargers to test it out? They have multiple tips for different manufacturers. Beats paying some overpriced diagnostic fee and you get an extra charger too!

Buy a universal charger from Best Buy or somewhere and try it out. If it's not the charger, then just return it

If it's an issue with the charging port and you're half decent at soldering, you could probably replace it yourself.

went to a best buy, told them it was either my charger or charging port, and someone opened a universal charging box to test it out for me, and luckily it was my charger! thanks kevin @ bestbuy at marine for helping me out(you told me you were on revscene)
