Grim

Earlier today a lost puppy came by roaming around my house.
Not sure if it has a chip, but I will find some time to look into that.
Has a tag with no name or info aside from dog license number.

Richmond area.

If you believe this is your dog, please contact me with a clear description/distinct feature of this puppy.

Are Doge's expensive?

Why are so many people jumping at adopting it? There's a hundred dogs at your local shelter which could use a home...

Good luck finding the owner Grim.

Shibas are inherently clever independent dogs so going away from home isn't too uncommon. I am certain if they are good owners, they are actively looking for the dog.

Yeah, shibes are fairly prone to exploring on their own. I help take care of one :)

good question - i just googled

https://purebredbreeders.com/breed/shiba-inu/

$2k for a pure bred shiba? damn... but that website may not necessarily be accurate..

pure bred anything is expensive. if the dog has a micro chip or ear tattoo, the owner's information can be looked up almost instantly.

trollguy
09-28-2015, 12:23 PM
yeah i understand they're expensive but didnt realize $2k.. I was thinking between 1000-1500! lol. oh well.

and yeah, each dog has a unique license.. i would like to believe City Hall could look up that info!

Actually pure bred anything with papers, ie not a backyard breeder, will be expensive.
Some may make you sign a no breeding contract or force neuter/spay contract.

I've been looking a Dachshund for a while now and prices vary greatly. Anything from someone CKC is uber duber expensive while back yarders can be as cheap as $700. =(

RAPS have sourced the owner's information and will contact owner.
She is pretty naughty compare to my two doggies, but super adorable.
Not her first time running off apparently

Back when I was looking at either getting a Shiba or Akita, it was $1200-1500 for a purebred Akita and about $800-$1000 for a Shiba, guess the prices have gone up since then

So fucking cute. omg!!

Yes, pure bred anything is well over $1k. My best friend had a brindle coat Akita(passed away at 10 y.o. last month, I'm still crying :( ) and he paid $1500 from a premium Akita breeder. He was already named when he bought him. He had to give the breeder first right at any shows that he would attend(which he didn't) so they would get the cred. It was quite the process. They were screening him, not the other way around.

My Shiba cross is a rescue and is a handful. Vicious around other dogs. You blink for a second and she's getting into trouble. But, very well trained if you have her attention. Great ON leash but would never let her off unless it was a sealed area. Her independence is astounding and annoying at the same time.

Always thought your dog was a pure bred Shiba.
Always amazed by how cute he is when you brought him out to autoX.
He would walk over, take a sniff of my hand and walk away. :okay:

I was 1 day late from adopting a Shiba Inu. He was at the Langley SPCA and had a great personality. Very calm and listened to all commands. Use to belong to a homeless person.
Alas, we went back the next day and someone adopted him.

Not sure really as she is a rescue. Vet thought maybe some Pit. The Shiba is dominant though. That Shiba yelp! Very distinctive.

Not just what the dog is crossed with though and very much the nature of its life before adoption. Monty was wild on the rez before we got him so he has very much a wild dog disposition. Once he has a scent he just will hunt until he's got it. He's very much an on leash dog as well due to that. I'll let him off at the beach sometimes if I have a whole day to waste because he will just swim after ducks for hours lol.

Yeah so many Dobe's at the link that West posted... :okay:
I met a couple when dogwood rescue was at tisol. One of them was the biggest sweetheart I've ever met. He followed me around and just would push himself as hard as he could into my leg until I'd scratch him behind the ears. He knew who was an easy target.
Funny thing was when I was talking with a few of the volunteers, some guy who was a customer there came and started showing us pics of all the dobermans he has bred over the years. All cut ears, docked tails, etc.
He didn't quite seem to figure out coming to a bunch of volunteers at a rescue and talking about all the dogs you have bred might not be your best audience.

Absolutely. My guess is the first 6 months of her life was pretty rough.
