It weights more then the miata with out much more power but has more torque with the turbo charged engine. Curious to see performance figures, but more curious to hear the sound.

No improvement in power to weight ratio. I'm quite critical of ND's looks especially the rear-end, but this fiat just does not look good to me from any angle. Those silver/chrome accents are terrible, especially the windshield.

I'd choose naturally aspirated ND with lighter weight over this turbocharged heavier counterpart anyday.

The look is quite different. Some people are put off by the "too Japanese" look of the ND Miata. I'd say the front end of the Fiat looks quite good, especially the bigger headlights. The profile look is also a little more distinctive (on the Fiat).

The big improvement in torque and having it come on much earlier should also be very significant. The ND is already a champ in the low end / mid range torque department. I can't imagine how big that torque rush is gonna push you against the back of the seat in the Fiat.

Also, IIRC, the 1.4T has quite a bit of untapped potential in stock form. An upsized throttle body, a little more boost, and probably your usual IHE stuff will release a lot more newfound power / torque. The ND seems to respond quite well to ECU tunes as well, but I'm sure the gains will be much higher on the 1.4T.

The 1.4T seems to be one of Fiat's better engines, but still, I'd trust the Mazda mill over the Fiat mill any day of the week, especially if I am going to beat the crap out of the engine at the track.

[correction] Made a mistake with the MultiAir reference. From everything I've read so far, it doesn't seem like the MultiAir tech is applied to the Fiat 124 Sypder here. But the rest of the stuff should still be correct.

As Traum mentioned, the Fiat engine itself with way more torque at way lower RPM should make the driving characteristics quite different to the Miata. The Fiat also has a smaller rev range. This combo would probably be a more adept 'cruiser/tourer' than the Miata, that is more rev-happy (just extrapolating from the numbers alone).

Also, I think I read the suspension is tuned to be more sporty, rather than the softer set up of the MX5. Don't hold me to that, can't remember exactly where I read it.

This is definitely not analogous to FRS/BRZ or Solstice/Sky, which used the same engines with minor suspension changes.

I stand on the side that finds the ND quite good looking and this Mopar bastard child rendition quite ugly, especially the front end, it just doesn't seem to be proportionally effective in my opinion...

As much as I love the 1.4T mill in the Abarth 500, I don't know if I'd prefer to have a more rev-happy motor like the 2.0 N/A motor in the ND, or the torque-rich and amazing sounding turbo Fiat motor. Not sure which motor would complement the chassis better?

In any case, the 4C is one of my favourite cars right now, I find it looks absolutely spectacular in both coupe and roadster form. Would be a really nice second car to have.
