Wow, awesome........... I want to move to china. All that hi tech and planning. I'm impressed.
Gululu, you must be very proud of your country and countrymen's accomplishments. This is such a positive. Please, keep giving us more positives.

they depended on German and American engineers etc and still cocked it up... I would say you should give it some time before riding on it, but i'd be afraid that bit of 'wait and see' time will end up giving the system time to wear out and crash when you finally think it's safe ;)

derailment in 3...2....
There has already been several derailments in the past lol.
The trains used to travel at speeds of ~450km/h. After several accidents and adjustments, the trains now travel at a max speed of ~310km/h. Haven't had any accidents since (that I know of).
I've rode in those high speed trains a couple of times. The inside is very nice and spacious.

To be fair.
New York Times:
statistics suggest that China’s high-speed trains have actually proved to be one of the world’s safest transportation systems.

the day china stops reverse engineering,... stealing trade secrets, research, intellectual property, and repackaging and selling products, undercutting companies/people who actually did the research.
that day will be china's doom

I recently tried the highspeed train in China.
The hard product is nice, the seats recline fully flat
The rear seat entertainment system wasn't working and a lot of the time there was no cell reception.
There was no service to speak of either, nobody came to check up to see if I needed water etc.
In comparison the Japanese Shinkansen was a much better experience even though the interior (green class) wasn't as nice. I never got a chance to ride the new gran class though

pretty impressive, and yes there had been lots of accidents already relating to the high speed rail. GG to all domestic flights and the airline industry

American?
I might be wrong, but Chinese buy German, Japanese and Canadian bullet trains.
I know China bought Bombardier Zefiro from Canada, Kawasaki Shinkansen from Japan, and Transrapid Maglev from Germany.

they had experts from all over, assisting in the designs is what I meant, wasn't speaking about the purchase of equipment

as much as I nitpick on China's HSR safety track record...big props to them for creating sucha vast network within sucha short amount of time.

Well, what do you expect? We don't have the population density to support a similar high-speed rail network.
Nor the slave labour - a work force that is well, forced.
On the other hand............... five supervisors watching one guy work........

On the other hand, California is in talks of building a High-speed rail network. Hopefully they can make it work and extend it along the coastline up to Vancouver. This idea has been proposed for years.
And guess what? They are outsourcing from China for their "expertise" and "innovation".

i'm not saying make one from vancouver to toronto
i'm sure the population density between boston to philly and sf to la is comparable to that of europe with HSR

isn't high-speed rail is the last decade stuff? we need hyperloop
