This will be similar to the 'Where can I buy this locally' except this will be food related. I'm sure we all experienced food that we had on a vacation that we've been craving for that we have no idea we can get locally or something we had once but the menu/restaurant discontinued it.

I'll start by asking where I can get some goong che nam pla (thai cold prawns) locally. I've had it almost everywhere in HK and Lotus of Siam in Vegas and me and the gf are craving it all the damn time

Chocolate cream pies. I've had plain chocolate cream pie back in the day when the Ironwood Tim Hortons opened but since then I haven't seen a place that sold pies of just chocolate and cream without any fruit.

Wonder how long til we see an inappropriate cream pie joke

+1 for San remo if you're in the area. Not sure if its authentic or not but its pretty good, although I've never had similar styled pizza so I can't compare

Hmmmm..I looked up the menu on Number E Food but I don't see it. Unless its an off-menu thing

If you don't mind grocery store ones, Save On and Safeway have been the best I've found personally (they're mini ones though).

Tried a Save On one today. I didn't like the crust. The search continues

I wouldn't even say 76% but its a big thicker pizza then we can normally get around here. I swear Chicago is the only place you can get a pizza close

You can grab a quick jambalaya fix from the Cactus club for $10 or so.

Tip: you can customize it
-ask for extra andouille sausage and bacon
-extra sauce
-for the rice, you can do white rice, brown rice, quinoa, I would recommend brown rice and quinoa combo

^Meh...for good food its worth it.

Back in the day Taka's at White Rock. Crossed the border for ribs at the bbq pit in Seattle etc.

Speaking of ribs, are there any good local places? I don't like Memphis Blues. I go to Re-up sometimes in New West at the Quay market's food court. Not a fan of Hogshack all that much either

^ i actually went there today. You're right, their Lao dishes were really good.

Naka Bistro is great for what they have. The prawn paradise was good, love what they did with it, for me I wouldn't try it again.

Sai Gok (spicy pork sausages) was great, great lemon grass flavor.

Mok Gai, chicken marinated in herbs (mostly dill) steam in banana leaf was full of aroma and I thought it was great.

If i'm ever there, I'll stop by again. decent little joint.

I forget the name of the cuisine but it's Japanese and American/Western fusion.

There was a restaurant on Boundary and 29th but they have since closed.

Then there was Moncton Cafe that also closed in 2015.

Any other locations for this type of food?

Will echo Hi-Genki.

I think Saboten at Aberdeen is pretty good.
The panko flakes are huge (I wonder if they make it themselves on site).

@CRS I'll vouch for Cafe de l'Orangerie.

Also, i'm still looking for the filipino candy Yema. I went to Edsa but they didn't have any.

Anybody have recommendations for some juicy, fatty pork chop from a restaurant?

I really like thick pork chops but I don't know where to get some. The last place that really caught my attention was Tuc's Craft Kitchen's pork chop with espresso reduction, but it has been long gone from the menu. I usually go to Kingyo during lunch for their tonkatsu rice for a quick fix, but I want more options. It doesn't matter what style, fried, grilled, but it's gotta be thick and fat.

Go to Pho Thai Son on victoria and 49th or on broadway across from kingsgate mall. Their grilled pork chop on rice with egg is pretty good

Try "BBQ MASTER" in Richmond under the Superstore on No. 3 Road. They have the most amazing roasted BBQ pork. The downside: it's kinda ghetto.
