: The problem with the file .PST

Good day.
There PST file weighing 38 GB, which is first copied from the local machine to a network drive, and after upgrading from XP to Seven, copied back.
Tried and Scanpst.exe and some other recovery tools.
What advice, folks?
E-mail is extremely important, because the PST-file - the director of department in a large enterprise.

That is a monster PST file. What happens when you run scanpst? Does it produce an error? What mail server are you using? Is it a server that that company controls, or are you using something like Gmail/Live?

Make sure the security/permissions are set correctly on the PST file. Sometimes the NTFS gets all screwed up when copied to a new machine.

find another way for records management - that is asking for data loss headaches.

38gb file for a pst is a huge no no.

like other have said use scanpst and let us know what errors are coming up.
what program are you using to open the pst file? what errors are you getting when opening up with said program.

At first, i was gonna fail the op for having a huge .pst file and i just so happen to see my older .pst file of mine to be 42gb. Even though this file are old archived emails, i would never guessed the size of that file
