I was wondering if anyone else has done something similar to this

I recently moved into a house and the room I sleep in has a side door the the downstairs tenants living room and can be quite loud on both ends.

I did some research on something like weather strips along the door frame where the door would sit, as well along the threshold but mine is about a inch from the floor to the actual wood door.

Any other suggestions anyone has?

with the door sweeps, usually they are adjustable by 1-2" so you can test fit the sweep to see where you need to have it installed before you screw into the door.

Weather stripping and a sweep will help quite a bit

If the door is never used, you can take the moulding off the doorway, put it and some insulation in front of the door and screw a sheet of plywood in front of it.

If the doorway is used, weather strips, threshold and a solid core door would be your best bet.

i found out its a hollow core door, so the weather strips might not work but thinking of fabricating a board with some cloth/deading foam on it the place infront of it but still doing the threshold striping as it s quite a large gap

Thanks so far
