| "Hypersport" vs "Track+Street" tires?
Anyone have any thoughts on "hypersport" tires vs "track/street" tires? I'm a little unclear over their intended use.
I'm looking at the Bridgestone Battlax S21 and BT-003RS.
I don't commute on the bike so I'm not concerned about tire wear; this is really only for canyon carving. What I'm trying to find is a tire with really good dry traction, that'll warm up relatively quickly (something you wouldn't have to go out of your way to get up to good grip levels), while still getting at least some level of wet traction for when rain unexpectedly comes down.
Maybe another way to phrase this: what's closer to what the RE71R is for cars? A tire like the S21, or the BT-003RS?

Personally I'd stay away from a more racing orientated tire like the 003 on the street. for street riding those tires don't last long enough for my dollars, plus they don't offer the same grip as street tire when it comes to the damp or wet, which to me is very important as i'm not always riding in the dry. Most street tires these days are amazing and will offer you more than enough grip for any street entertainment, you just have to leverage that grip with how fast you want to be replacing tires and how much grip you have in marginal conditions.

As someone that just installed Supercorsas, I kind of regret it. They're disgustingly sticky but I find myself counting mileage and not wanting to ride the bike for more mundane stuff. My next tire will probably be something like a Rosso Corsa III or a Pilot Power 3.

^ do you find the grip lacking before you put some heat into them? I'm a little concerned over whether they could be unsafe for street use for that reason.

I've done 2 school days at The Ridge and city ridden on them for parts of 2 summers and DD's them last year.
So far I've actually gotten decent mileage out of them, and they were race take off's too.
As for grip, this morning it was 8C and I had no issues taking the first decent speed right hander.
But I probably wouldn't want to drag the knees until you get some heat into the tires.

So I got the S21s installed last weekend, and wow. I love these things! I basically wanted the RE71Rs in a bike tire and that's what I apparently got! There's seemingly no squirming at all during quick transients, and they grip like mad. I guess I haven't pushed it far enough to be able to report back on the most important aspect for me: how well it communicates impending loss of traction, and how progressive that loss of grip is, but I kind of don't want to ever find out lol.
