I'll give discounts to riders, and larger discounts for riders that support the RS community. The parking lot is massive so they'll be tonnes of room. Just a get together to look at bikes, bullshit, and drink bbt.

This is not an 'official RS meet' but like with any get togethers, no douchbaggery. Id prefer to keep it for bikes only so it doesn't get out of hand.

If there is any interest I can plan further.

will we actually get service? the last few times ive gone ive left empty handed. the lineup is either out the door which (once you order) is about 20 minute wait, sometimes more if you get bubble waffle. on the last two occasions my girlfriend and i have been refused service because it was 9:33 (yes, both times) and your last call is 9:30. not including the 2 other couples behind us who also had to leave.

sorry for my rant. but the WORST reason to be losing customers is because you're too busy.

but if i get a discount, yeah sure i'll come to the bike meets

I doubt it. It's a common area where everyone pays the 'fee' to have it cleaned up but I'm the only one using it. I already have 3 patio tables set up when I technically wasn't suppose to. I'm sure we can throw some beach towels on the grass and it should be ok though

The average squamish run has more people than anything that's organized here... always fresh faces and new rider grouping for people unfamiliar with the route. Yup I've been out on a few Monday night Gelato rides. A bit too big sometimes and seems like there's always people crashing. Nice crowd tho for the most part. :)

The reason the meets are infrequent is the weather. I can't control this. If it sucks, the meets don't happen. If it's nice, why not. Ivanna and I take the time to set up something for the community. It does not benefit us at all but it's nice to meet new people that share common interests.

If you want to meet bike people, talk about bikes and how fast you can ride up Squamish, don't bother coming here. Personally, I could care less about anything to do with motorcycles. I'd rather debate about our housing market, business, and people driving over the curb at the exit to superstore.

It honestly feels like there is no appreciation at all from you. If you don't want to come because it's boring, then don't come. The meets will go on. Life will go on. There is no need to tell people that haven't been to the meet that it's boring or there is an elitist vibe. It's actually the totally opposite. I don't even know what an elitist vibe is to be very honest.

Since I started the meets, this feels like a personally attack on me. I own and operate 3 businesses. My life is work. I live and breathe work. So when I take some time out of my busy schedule to do something for the community, it's not good enough ?? Trust me, I have better things to do with my time (making money)

Instead of bitching about how shitty my meet is, how about you plan these weekly meets at your shop, where you offer free / discounted things to people you don't know?

I'm just expressing my disappointment how there is nothing else that gets posted up, and the times I ask if anyone else wants to join in on something else, it's met with silence. If anything I commend kr4l for trying and getting people together. I'm all for coming together and meeting up on a weekly basis but to plan a group ride, route, getting stuck at the lights is a pain in the ass that I don't want to deal with. Honestly, I don't feel all that comfortable in a group setting. Possibly cause I'm still a newb or that the wife is riding along and her confident level, or just watching too many YouTube videos of people doing stupid shit. The last meet we rode out downtown. It was great. Everyone was super chill and tame but there's also that insecurity I have of those aggressive cagers that feel the need to do stupid shit. Something about the mentality of drivers when they see a group of riders scares the fuck outta me.

To be fair, people in cars are there whether your in a group or not. Also, the RS crew is painfully respectful lol. I ride with ppl on here and it's no faster or aggressive than in a car. No wheels, burn outs, lane splitting etc. Extremely noob friendly

I totally agree with you. Everyone is very respectful and doesn't do anything stupid at all. Then there's that's one guy that saw us riding in a group by the Arthur Laing bridge and does a wheelie. All it takes is one bad apple

To clarify, the idea is to ride within the limits of each particular group. There are huge differences between riding inside the city with a lot of newer riders, the mild high speed stuff, the medium-high speed stuff and the unadvertised hooligan runs.

This particular group happens to be more about hanging out with motorcycles + amazing food and meeting new friends.

I've been around RS for quite a long time... and trust me, it has its fair share of arrogant D-bags. just not in this particular circle. Most of the people I usually ride with are pretty knowledgeable, respectful, and skilled. I wouldn't advocate joining up with a bunch of random hoologans

Being old is is half my problem... embittered and a little jaded at times. But I have to say, among the other people I ride with, it feels more like family than just a social group. We ride, we hang out more often than not, and we look out for each other. I suppose I was expecting too much, but I don't want to come across as ungrateful either. And besides, nothing builds up skill and confidence, than just getting out there. You'd be amazed at how fast you progress when grouping up with people at higher skill levels, otherwise you kinda stagnate. I realize that's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's just my advice.

Also, to add. This meet is super noob friendly so any and all skill levels are super welcome. We've been getting a ton of lurkers and randoms which is always awesome. We do have significantly faster/more demanding rides that a few of us here do host -- but come to these, chat bikes, get advice on riding, enjoy the discounted food and such. If you're looking for rides to join along on this is one of the great places to start.

That was a little uncalled for... way to pick on someone for trying to make up for his misconception,. Some of you guys make it sound like he suggested shooting a baby, relax guys. If this meet isn't about going on a ride rather just meeting up and hanging out then great, but probably don't need things to get so blown.

I haven't come out to any of the bike meets yet but i'm glad that they are happening and that someone has taken the initiative to put it together, so thanks for that. Hopefully i'll get to meet some of you guys at a meet at some point.

You guys typically ride hwy much? I sold the SM610, so I only gots the Grom and well it tops at 100kph since I geared down a tooth on my front sprocket.. So hwy rides are probably a no go for me.

Bananana - I agree completely and totally. My experience with the RS group is they are super polite, super friendly, super inclusive ... maybe the focus isn't strictly on high-speed or technical runs, but most people are looking for something more social anyways. If social interactions and fun aren't specifically what somebody is looking for, that's totally cool... I'm sure there are other people elsewhere with similar interests. RS is what it is and I'm very happy with the bike culture that people like Tommy, John (RIP), etc., laid the foundation for here years ago.

It's definitely not worth getting worked up about if you don't like this culture/social-first approach.
