VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) -Vancouver Police are questioning three people following a bizarre downtown incident this afternoon.

Officers were called to a building near Robson and Hamilton around lunchtime, where a witness reported a naked woman inside a closed store.

Police surrounded the store, but the woman and two men on the inside were uncooperative. Investigators contacted a store representative, who said the store was closed and no one should be inside. In the end, the representative was one of the people inside the store.

The woman, the store representative, and another man were eventually taken into custody and are now being questioned.

Nobody appears to be injured (but) the woman has been taken to the hospital to be checked over. She appears to be under the influence at this point,” explains Constable Brian Montague.

“We don’t know what we have. It’s possible we’ve disrupted a sexual assault that was in progress, but it’s still too early to say.”

It’s still unclear what exactly happened, as Montague says it’s still quite early in the investigate

Vancouver police say there will be no charges for those involved in a bizarre police incident after an inebriated, naked woman was spotted inside a Wind Mobile store on Robson Street on Friday afternoon.

Constable Brian Montague says the incident began shortly after noon Friday, May 20, when a would-be customer tried to enter the Wind Mobile store at Robson and Hamilton but found the door locked.

He says the customer noticed a woman's foot sticking out from behind the counter and called 911.

When police arrived, Montague says the individuals inside were "uncooperative ... and didn't want to open the door and talk to officers".

"The strange set of circumstances, the suspicious nature of the circumstances and what our officers were seeing triggered a pretty large police response," he said.

Vancouver police shut down the busy block for about an hour and at one point in the standoff, drawing their guns.

Eventually two men were taken into custody while the woman was taken to hospital.

Montague said police interviewed the individuals and obtained a search warrant to review store security footage.

"I won't go into detail about what the video showed us," he said, but did add that "everything that was going on was consensual."

Montague says one of the three people involved was a store employee.

He says there was no evidence to support criminal charges but chided the individuals involved.

"Obviously this is something that could have been resolved quickly had they simply opened the door and spoken to the officers who had showed up in the first place," he said.
