many have been recommending Fastrack Autobody. In fact, I got rear ended too and my car is scheduled for a repair there in two weeks.

I swear there is a thread on this topic every week.
There needs to be since every time someone recommends one, someone goes there and has a shit experience.
I've never seen a more inconsistent industry.

Open Road in Richmond was fast at doing a simple bumper repair. Only one day turnaround. Their workshop is like a warehouse.

I give 7/10 because there were a Couple of hairlines scratches in the Clear coat if you looked really close.

Color matching was flawless considering the car is almost 20 years old.

I currently having Fastrack work on my car.
My car got hit in mid April. I made an appointment and because of the long wait time, the earliest appointment I got was a month later.

Well, earlier this week, I dropped off my car and got a courtesy car. Later in the day, he calls me and tells me there was some issue ordering in my replacement fender and tells me to bring back the courtesy car and take my car back. The delay will be about a week and he doesn't want to keep my car at the shop if he can't work on it.

That's where I'm at now, and still waiting for my car to get repaired. I was told to bring my car back again next week (as in this coming Tuesday).

No review on their actual workmanship yet since I'm still waiting for them to take it in and work on it...

See, shit like that is so frustrating. I get the shop is busy, but they know your car is coming in, they gave you an estimate I'm sure so they have record of what car is coming in, how can they not have their ducks in a row for a fender after a month to prepare?!
Shit happens for sure, but its so common in the body shop world to have such half assed organization.

Could be they had a aftetmarket fender or used fender on the estimate and when his car went into the shop they fit it and there was issues, oem fender is not in stock and on special order therefore they cannot repair the vehicle.
Good point. Like I said, I do get shit happens.
The point I'm making though is this happens more often than not though. At some point it simply comes down to lack of organization and quality service. Not necessarily in this instance, but way more than it should.

thanks for all replied, picture added, what do u guys think? chance write off?

Traum

No way it's a write off if that's the extent of it. But I always hate rear end collisions like this because it is easy for the trunk to not seal properly after repairs.

Could be they had a aftetmarket fender or used fender on the estimate and when his car went into the shop they fit it and there was issues, oem fender is not in stock and on special order therefore they cannot repair the vehicle. Because the vehicle is driveable icbc will not pay for him to stay in a rental vehicle. Its a crappy rule and very annoying for the customer but the bodyshop does work for icbc and have to follow their rules. Its not as simple as getting oem everything as people make you believe, icbc makes the bodyshop jump through alot of hoops because afterall they are a business.

Yeah, something like that. I think they had an aftermarket fender prepared, but I'm supposed to get an oem fender as per my insurance that I have. Whomever they're getting the oem fender from won't air delivery it, so it's will take a week for ground delivery.

I don't know who's fault it is, but at this point, I'm just hoping everything gets fixed flawlessly without any issues the first time around, and the 1+ month wait will then be worth it.

I'll report once my car's fixed, but OP most likely would have chosen a shop by then. Although last week when I talked to Fastrack, they said their current wait time is all the way until mid June.

i want write off

i think they are going to authorize the cheapest used/aftermarket parts they can find to keep that from happening :(

i can't see the sides of the car in your pic. how are the rear doors closing? are the door gaps tight? hard to close?

rear doors close fine

i asked because i don't know how bad the crumple zones are. so if the doors are okay then there isn't much to pull frame wise and it's still straight...

my uncle recommends fast track as well, but it was years ago when they fixed his car. it still looks good. i didn't know it had a big accident until he told me.

Just dropped my car off at Fastrack. If you do go with Fastrack, better do it soon. They said their last week of May is filling up. lol

If window is the only damage, it might be cheaper to find glass at a junkyard and diy install.

Richcity gets my recommendation. My fit got rear ended 6 years ago. Car is pulled, new hatch new, rear bumper. They even sourced my custom CF diffuser, and my japan aftermarket tail lights. Great paintjob on the taffeta white. No shade difference or blotchiness from OEM paint. No runs or hairline cracks anywhere. Hatch was installed properly with no squeaking noises developed after 6 years.

this is a very one sided view, to assume it's all about organization. you have to understand how inconsistent it is in the industry, and how many factors are outside of a body shop's control. it's definitely outside of dealerships "uncontrollables". so much of insurance work is subletted out, so it's up to the subletters, the dealerships for parts, special order items, insurance delays.. list goes on
