why is canada post so bad?

first of all, I have no respect for this courier company. We all know they cannot compete with Fedex, or DHL in terms of parcels. and now they are failing to even deliver regular mail. I have lost so many registered mail via canada post its super suspicious. now, they dont even deliver mail anymore. And its all super random delivery times too. They deliver 2 times per week to my apartment, and 3 times a week to my other apartment, and 5 days a week to my detached house. It seems like they like to serve houses more than apartment complexes.
also the amount trash mail they spew out is literally disgusting. i have to check my all my boxes every week or else it get too full.
can someone explain why they can operate so badly and still be in business?
Should've used China Post
inb4 it's the end user not the service Kappa LUL
CP ain't awesome but IMO they DESTROY fedex, DHL, and whatever other shitty private company can you can name.
i also trust USPS over private companies too.

Is it just me or did anyone notice mail comes a lot faster now? Especially between Vancouver and Ontario? I mailed something on Monday and it got there on wednesday

not here. 90% of Tracking numbers don't work on canadapost tracking website. despite being registered.
Of the ones that do track, it shows the shipment is sitting somewhere for over 2 weeks with no updates.

Canada post has been great for me. Always receive my mail on time or earlier - until last month where my parcels would get sent to my neighbour...contacted them and hopefully it's fixed now

Canada post always leave my package on the side of the house or just straight in front of the front door. They don't even bother to knock anymore! Is like I won't even know I have package till i check online and see it was deliver...... While at home waiting.......
I try to file a complain but their system is so bad I just give up. No issue with UPS at all.

really depends on the person
sometimes they straight up just leave it, sometimes they leave a notice, sometimes they knock and then leave it
if its an amazon package they'll usually call me and ask if its ok to leave at the front door
Purolator and UPS are straight up fucking garbage
so many fuckin times they marked something as "attempted delivery" when they clearly didn't cus i was at home anticipating the damn thing

If you can, get stuff delivered to your work. If it gets delivered to my condo, 90% of the time I'll have to go to the post office to pick it up because it needs signature. There's always someone at reception. I never miss a package.

No issue with UPS at all.
You don't consider ripping people off for every cent they can on an international package an issue?
You think canada post is bad?! Try purolator. I missed a package at 6am on a fucking friday morning, fuck I was still asleep before work. So, earliest I can pick up a package is monday at 11:30am because the driver parked and "leaves the [fucking] packages in the truck after his shift" quoted from the purolator store on marine and byrne. Wtf. So they just leave shit in a barely secured truck? At least canada post drops their shit off to the closest post office to pick up on most days-of if i missed a package. I want purolator to fucking burn in hell. Canada post isn't too bad already...

If you didn't know, Amazon's contract with Canada Post ended and the majority will be delivered by Purolator. You will see more of them if you order a lot from Amazon.

as a courier for FedEx, here is my view on why ppl leave packages without knocking
If i have a commitment time to deliver 20 packages by 12pm, and my average is 9 per hour, and i leave my station at at 10am, there is no possible way i can make all 20 commits in the 2hour span while i wait 30-45 seconds at a door to see if its going to be answered or not. Im guessing couriers chose their battle whether they wait or not depending on how busy they are.
do couriers leave packages without knocking or waiting around because theyre lazy and dont want to wait ? probably
do couriers leave packages without knocking or waiting around because they want to finish faster so they can go home? probably
do couriers leave packages without knocking or waiting around to cut down time and not get "talked too" because they didnt hit their parcels commit times ? probably
do couriers leave packages without knocking or waiting around because after they finish their route, they have to go and help somewhere else? probably i certainly do.
There are many reasons why some ppl leave it and not knock, and many reasons why some of us ring your door and knock at the same time (even if you believe ringing the doorbell is enough)
Sometimes, im sure couriers leave the package at your door to save you the hassle and time of coming all the way to our stations to pick it up :okay:

Is funny coz this happens to me a few co workers as well. So we have our stuff delivery to work and the delivery guy ask for customs fee which is fine but we only have cash and he doesn't take cash. So few months down the road we got a bill from them going to work so we call and ask them what it is for. Pretty sure we know what it is for. So we explain to the guy on the phone we are willing to pay at the time but the delivery guy refuse to take our money.
In the end we never had to pay a penny and we still package delivery to us.

Doesn't Amazon use their own thing now? Shows up at AMZCA with a tracking # that starts with TBC.

Amazon started using their own thing for some apartments. But the majority is still delivered by other couriers. Eventually they will probably have a delivery network big enough that they don't need to outsource

Canada Post promises investigation after Halifax mailbox left open all weekend
Concerned resident called Canada Post Friday, box still wide open on Monday

This Canada Post mailbox in Armdale was first discovered left open on Friday. (CBC)
Canada Post has launched an investigation into why a community mailbox in Halifax was left open over the weekend, even after the Crown corporation was told twice by a neighbour who spotted the problem.
"This incident is absolutely unacceptable," spokesman Mouktar Abdillahi wrote in a statement to CBC News.
"We apologize and truly appreciate the diligence of the resident who contacted us, which is exactly what anyone with concerns should do."
Craig Potter spotted the problem Friday afternoon when he went to check his mail at the community mailbox on Stonehaven Street in the suburban Halifax neighbourhood of Armdale.
'Everything in this box is open'
The panel that gives postal workers access to all the individual mailboxes had been left ajar.
"Right now, everything in this box is open," Potter said in an interview early Monday afternoon.
"This is where the delivery person, you can see mail in here. The parcels, if there were any, would be available, someone's Mastercard statement, personal mail."
A total of 16 individual boxes and two larger slots for holding parcels were open.
Potter called Canada Post on Friday afternoon. When nothing had been done by Saturday morning, he called again. When the boxes were still open on Monday, he called CBC.
"It's disappointing to see the, I guess, lack of caring," Potter said.

I wouldn't worry too much, they're putting Amazon as top priority to try to keep them happy in hopes to keep them as a customer. As for the not knocking, it's different by each courier, but they are trained to knock/or ring doorbell for when signature isn't required.

A friend of mine is dealing with a bit of a Canada Post screw up. He ordered something to be delivered to Vancouver. Tracking his package from California, it went from California, to Ontario, across Canada, finally to Richmond...
Then to Alaska and now to Tokyo

Doesnt work if your business uses group mailbox located in the industrial park.
Canada Post never deliver package or mail to my business only to the mail room. They leave pickup card in mail box. Whereas fedex or dhl they actually go the extra mile and deliver stuff right to my unit.

not here. 90% of Tracking numbers don't work on canadapost tracking website. despite being registered.
Of the ones that do track, it shows the shipment is sitting somewhere for over 2 weeks with no updates.
This has been happening to packages I've sent via canada post to the US the past 1-2 months
Just shows as "package has arrived in foreign country" with no other updates...
IMHO CP has some serious internal efficiency issue as well as its pricing algorithm.
I was trying to mail a box of used baby stuff to my friend a while back (when loonie was closer to parity), and it was a whopping $79.xx to ship it from BC to ON as the cheapest option.
I decided against mailing it because it didn't make much sense and the box sit in my trunk. The next day I was in Blaine picking up some stuff and I saw that box. Out of curiosity, I went to the USPS office to get a quote, it was just over U$50 to ship. :fuckthatshit: So I mailed it out just to :troll: CP.
To my surprise, the parcel got there in 2 days. That's the moment I realized how deep of a trouble CP was in. How can USPS ships a package to cross the fucking border faster and cheaper than CP does it domestically?

CP would of been the ones to deliver it once it reached Canada. They also deliver packages for all of the other couriers to remote towns. As for Purolator they are owned by Canada Post

Living in a condo, Canada Post package always marked as delivered but only get delivery notice 3 business days after. Even if I'm present at home, same thing. Tracking doesnt even say they leave it at the local post office. I always ended up going to office to pick it up without the notice card. It's a joke really like delivery guy doesn't give a fuck.

Living in a condo, they dont really buzz or knock for parcel, they leave a notice right away regardless of me leaving my buzzer number on the 2nd line of address on all parcels. Good thing is that the guy is consistent on his delivery time so when I am expecting something, I just catch him in person and ask for it. Sometimes they apologize because they know they didnt attempt to contact me before the notice. I don't really mind this.
But the most annoying thing is all the flyers and spam I get. Is there an option to reject it? It's ridiculous how many I get. I sometimes even wonder if its sanctioned by Canada post or if the delivery guy is doing it for side cash from businesses.

yes. i noticed that condos in high dense areas tend to get way more junk flyers than my detached house. Im also looking for ways to stop the spam mail. I don't care about savings with stupid coupons or london drugs weekly flyers. Sometimes I just want to seal off my mailbox with concrete so I don't have to deal with canada post but then I wont receive government letters so that's how backwards this stupid country is.

Canada post left a slip that said they will be available at post office X
I went to X the next day and they said never have such parcel
so I went the other day, still no result, and they won't be able to track where it is, but online tracking page indicated delivered
end up calling the office and found they dropped at another post office...........

Ok, I live in a condo as well, and I haven't received a single flyer in over 7 YEARS! This is what you do, tape a 'reddotcampaign' sticker to the inside of your mailbox on the bottom edge and that's it! Unfortunately, plenty of other residents get the junk mail and flyers, which just end up in the recycle bin. So, if I really wanted a particular flyer, I just grab whichever one from there.
