I love how one of the "admins" of the FB page comments saying how they tried to get in contact with managment and that they are all customers of tims but yet he takes the signs that were posted by MC at the parking lot and posts it on facebook like he stuck it to the man. That ladies and gentleman are the people "running" the event.

i went by last thursday for the first time to any thursday meet in a good 1 year +

it seemed more tamed than what i used to see at byrne, which was quite nice. But there was still your typical dbag here and there doing their "cool" stunts, specially some old volvo i think, i forget lol

Quite a bit of police presence from what i saw, but ya like fliptuner says, dont expect this to last

I don't attend these often at all anymore, Been to like 3 in the last 2 years, For exactly the reasons listed. Whereas the summer before I was out there almost every week.

With that said I watch the drama on FB groups and just laugh. QB got shut down abruptly from what I understand tonight, lol.

It's funny cause I've watched meets like this move around vancouver for 10 years now, and I know exactly which parking lots you can and can't meet at, for example Lougheed you won't last 10 minutes, which is another venue the "organizers" of thursday night tried. It's honestly pathetic, these people took over a meet which established itself over the last 5 years, and ruined it in 1 summer, and now have proceeded to make a complete debauchery of everything for 2 more years after that.

You get a group of 18-25 year old males in a group somewhere, especially with a culture thats as buddy guy as young car enthusiasts and the testosterone just makes everyone go full retard. Thats why I like cars and coffee, everyone is too old and tired to act like that.

I often stop by Market Crossing on my way home from work to get groceries, ice caps, or smokes at LD. Got sick of getting stared down like I was some fuckboy who attends those meets, and made a mini rant on fb about it.

Someone screen shot it, and posted it to one of those fb groups to throw me under the bus. Bitch is crazy. I think meme405 and entrax replied to it. Don't know what came of it since I'm not in that fb group.

Does make me curious though. If someone could screenshot it and post it here it'd be greaaat. I remember that, It was on either Thursday Night meets or VCC. Good luck finding it though, it was months ago, and the only way I can think is to just keep scrolling back until you see it. lol. Maybe someone can try to search using the original post and see if FB can find it, but if it was a screen shot then you are probably not gonna be lucky.

As for it being the same people that complain about the RS meets timing, it almost definitely is partly the same ones. Realistically it's like the same ~20 people posting and commenting on every post on VCC, and it's those same people that are always critical of RS. They will learn eventually, most of the active people on these groups are brand new to the scene (like within the last couple years).

Honestly the slow decline of forums, and the new age of FB car groups taking over makes me ache for the future. Gone are the days of solid DIY's, people helping each other out with detailed information, and interesting forum topics. These days it's all just people who have nothing useful to add, or post something they did with their car, but don't want to help anyone else with anything. It's fucking disgusting. It honestly all stems back to this social media crazed world we have created, where E-Fame trumps having actual friends.

I remember driving around for hours, or spending weekends helping someone with something on their car, most of the time someone I had originally met through the forums. I remember when I fried a fuel pump on my Sierra, and had someone I only knew through the forums, come get me, went to lordco picked up a new pump, and then helped me install it on the side of the road.

I hope this next group of enthusiasts who come up on Instagram and FB learn the value in helping each other out, instead of just focusing on "Killing the game" < a saying which I absolutely dread.

EDIT: On a slightly related note I saw this:

Now I don't know if this is true, but I bet it is given how most people know RS more than they know other local sources.

What exactly did the kid posting this want RS to do? Of course their gonna say they want nothing to do with it, the meet has nothing to do with this site, and it has been the bain of their existence for the last two years. This community spends an awful lot of time trying to be better, and reduce the fear among non-enthusiasts when 1000 cars pour into their neighborhood for some meet, and these meets went in the completely opposite direction, they made the community look terrible, so why would RS want to associate itself with that?

But bro, how else is the new crop of "enthusiast" going to kill the game with their "build" of eBay coilovers set as low as they can go, with wheels that have incredibly questionable fitment, and their instagram handle as a windshield banner.

Frankly, this new crop of people constantly referring to social media and relying on follower count to validate their popularity is like you said, disgusting. It used to be getting to know the person behind the car, now most don't care who you are unless you have 300 million followers on Instatwitterbook.

Man, I remember those meets when it was only a dozen or so people. Hadn't been in a couple years and randomly decided to show up one night last year., mainly because I was in the area and needed to pick something up at Canadian Tire. Thankfully it was in my winter beater (stock Acura EL) because there were roadblocks at every entrance and it took forever to get into the parking lot. It looked like a gong show, watching half the modified cars get denied and turned around.

No, it was never a Revscene meet even though members from here would attend. As far as I can recall, the only actual Revscene meet there was the Connor's Day meet I put together at the last minute a couple years ago. All those other meets were not affiliated with us. That said, as we're the largest visible car club in Vancouver, our name tends to get attached to quite a bit of stuff even if we didn't know about it.

The meet has happened every week for four years at Burnaby’s Market Crossing Mall. Car enthusiast Chase Nicholson said the gathering steadily grew in popularity over the three years he’s participated.

“It started with five people meeting up there Thursday nights to grab coffee and hang out, talk about cars,” he said “And it’s grown up to the four, five, 600 cars we get weekly now.”

The last three years of this meet are exactly the worst three years. Sure they were the years with the most attendance, but they were also the years where the meet and people got out of control.

If you have only been going to this meet for 3 years, I guarantee you have no recollection of the days when it was only 5 people. Nice try. Even when I started going to those meets which was later in the summer of 2012 and into 2013 the number of people and cars in general was already into the dozens.

People want to front about originating or having been the catalyst of this meet seriously need to go away. No single person can claim fame to this meet. It's a central location and people slowly caught wind of it. I guarantee the beamer/audi/mitsu or whatever other group wants to claim they were there first either were not the first.

There's a handful of people throughout this entire events history we can actually commend for doing the right thing, and two of them are members on here (the others probably are as well, but I'm not sure). Those two people are SWFK and Calbee, they ran the original FB page, and they shut it down when the meets started to get out of control and backed away. That's exactly when the meets were taken over by the goon squad. The original FB page was actually full of pictures and videos people posted, instead of just being a hub for all the latest rumours and drama.

I just wanna take a minute to reminisce one of the best meets I ever had. It was a summer meet at Riverport Silver city. They called out a sushi eating contest and my buddies were like, " You should totally do it!", I'm like Naaah. They egged me on and I finally caved and went up to take my place to eat two cali rolls against 4 other guys. I thought I put those summer school Richmond Sushi raids behind me, but it was calling me back. The raging roll destroyer broke loose and returned.

It started and I ripped through my styrofoam box full of cali rolls and the competitor beside me kept looking at me. The announcer said "Hey stop looking at your opponent and keep going". He said back to the announcer "Dude, the guy's already done!!". The announcer was like "wtf? umm, yeah we have a winner, 4 other guys were still about 3/4 of the way through their first caliroll. I raging demon'd that mother fucker to oblivion, 29 hit combo finisher. One of my university buddy's was like FUCKIN' MONSTER KILLLLLLLLLL.

Then I won 2 gift vouchers for Ebisu. Those were the days. Those were awesome days. I miss those days where it was about having fun. It's like, car enthusiast pull together to focus mainly on other things besides how much they modded their car.

That opening thing was brutal, because they want people to come that are going to blow 150k on a new loaded cayenne turbo, because thats how they make real money.
The cars and coffee at porsche langley I've been to, I've probably had as many people come up to me to talk about my shitty 90s purple z24 lookalike as I have approached to ask them about their caged gt3s and early longhood 911s.
