Calgary police have issued an Alberta-wide Amber Alert for a five-year-old girl believed to have been abducted from the community of Panorama Hills, where her mother was found dead.

The Amber Alert for Taliyah Leigh Marsman was issued shortly after 1:30 a.m. MDT on Tuesday.

As of 7 a.m., Marsman’s whereabouts remained unknown. She was last seen by a family member at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The young girl is described as having a slim build, curly brown hair and blue eyes.

Police said it’s believed Marsman was abducted by an unknown person from the 1000 block of Panamount Boulevard N.W.

They have a man in custody... It had to have been the father (Colin Marsman, Paris)! Sara was at DQ buying a birthday cake on sunday (last known sighting of her). It was Colin's birthday Wednesday (according to this article and court documents). No forced entry. Taliyah was seen walking with a man (im assuming if any strange adult male she'd be scared, screaming, or crying in public). I say they lay the charges against him today.

The daughter was seen with a black male. "Police have said a girl matching Taliyah's description was seen with a stocky, black male around 11:30 a.m. Monday in the same area where the child and her mother lived. She was wearing red or pink boots with white polka dots and was carrying a reddish-coloured suitcase."

The father is cooperating with the investigation.

All of humanity is not lost. This is about as tragic as it comes, but we have to continue to do our part to make sure the bad guys don't win.

What can we do? Little things that when added up, make a difference. The random acts of kindness thread is full of examples. It does rub off on people.

We shouldn't give up........... we need to be strong and support each other. Every time I hear tragic stories like this one, it makes me want to throw a tantrum. Instead, I will quietly pray, in my own little way, that the mom and the little girl find peace. And, also hope the dad will find the strength to deal with the loss. I can't imagine what he is going through.

Most of us on RS are decent folk. I know it's not easy, but don't give up hope. Hug your loved ones extra tonight.

I too have chosen the higher road lately with all the shitty things that are taken place all over the world. Normally I would be beside myself in anger about things like this and want nothing more than the person responsible to pay dearly, but that is very unproductive and can lead to more negativity. Be positive, stay positive. Be kind to others, show compassion and understanding. Fighting hate with hate leads to war. Throw love in the mix and it seizes the gears of the hate machine.
