Hi guys,

I was wondering how does ICBC work with vinyl wrapped cars when it comes to fixing them after an accident?
Does ICBC cover the wrap or the owner must do it himself

No ICBC will cover the wrap.

But they may require you to take the car to their inspection facility to check it out.

I had my door re-wrapped when my car was broken into.

I can't see why they wouldn't they cover it. They cover factory clear stone decals, oem & aftermarket stripes and 3m/xpel clear decals etc.
Whats the difference?

ICBC Insures Vehicle Wraps As Equipment
Effective July 9, 2014, ICBC will provide own damage coverage for some vehicle wraps that require a tool, such as a heating gun, to be removed. (Vehicle wraps are most commonly seen as advertising on vehicles using custom graphics and business signage.) Wraps or coverings of a temporary nature, not requiring a tool for removal, are not considered permanently attached equipment of a vehicle.

Wraps on rate group vehicles are subject to the $5,000 limit for all permanently attached equipment (not available from the vehicle manufacturer). For declared value vehicles, the declared value should reflect the actual cash value of the vehicle inclusive of all permanently attached equipment.

Semi-related. But what about paint protection?

I had my car's done @ Bashir's Auto for the undercoat, rust, and including the exterior paint "protection" (yes, I know..) etc. Had to get my two side doors repainted due to vandalism. Would ICBC cover the cost to 'protect' those two doors?

What about those that drop a couple grand on 3M or Opti Coat 2.0?

my dad had one of those dealer paint protection sealant packages on his old car that he had bought used which had been done for the previous owner. when he had an icbc claim the adjuster asked for proof and he showed them the sticker on the window saying the brand of sealant. the adjuster approved it and issued an addendum for the bodyshop to sublet it out for that company to do after they repainted it.

They covered my J's Racing canards.
Almost covered my J's Racing wide fenders but deemed to expensive and was repaired instead.

They actually do

My after market front grille, lip...etc. were all covered.

Do they require you to have receipts as well? What if you bought it used?

They cover paint protection, as long as it is recent and you have a certificate/receipt. However, they only pay $25 for the first panel, and than $15 per panel after (last I remember lol, not in autobody anymore)

So if you have opticoat or something like that, I highly doubt it is enough to cover. Heck, eve for Diamond Kote, my detail guy just gave me the bottle and told me to do it myself lol.

diamond kote. that's what my dad had on his. icbc put down $80 to redo the whole back end of his car (he was rear ended).

I know a guy who got his Alpine subwoofer, amp and deck covered when they got stolen.
