VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An early morning break and enter at a home in East Vancouver has left a woman shaken but unharmed and police searching for a suspect. Investigators say she woke up to find a man standing over her as she slept.
This happened on Sherbrooke Street near 37th Avenue around 2 a.m.
She phoned police after waking up and finding that intruder in her home, reportedly pleasuring himself. It seems he was startled and then took off by jumping out a second floor window. Officers, including the dog squad, searched the neighbourhood shortly after arriving to the scene. Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. They say they’re working with a significant language barrier.
Earlier this year, a similar crime took place around 49th Avenue and Knight Street. In that case, a woman woke up shortly before 4 a.m. to find a man standing in her bedroom. After a brief struggle, the suspect took off. Investigators deemed that incident to be sexually motivated.
