At least three people have died in a shooting at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, and the shooter is still on the loose in the vicinity, police say.

State Patrol Sgt. Mark Francis told reporters in an update just before 10 p.m. that three women were killed in the shooting. Two others were injured in the shooting, including a man who was in critical condition and being airlifted to a Seattle hospital. A woman who suffered non-life threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.

The Washington State Patrol had previously said on Twitter that four were shot.

Later, he said that paramedics had entered the mall with police escorts to help the wounded inside.

Those inside the mall are being taken by bus to a nearby church, he said.

Authorities are describing the suspect as a hispanic man wearing grey or black who was last seen walking toward Interstate 5.

Francis says police believe there was only one shooter. People are asked to notify authorities if they see the suspect, who is armed with a rifle.

Stephanie Bose, an assistant general manager at Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurant near the mall told The Associated Press the shooting happened inside the Macy’s department store. Her restaurant is just outside the Macy’s.

The public is asked to stay away from the area of a mall and also to avoid the I5 in the vicinity of State Hwy. 20.

Reports from the scene said multiple SWAT teams are in and around the mall, which is popular with shoppers from British Columbia.

I also drove by with my friends as we were heading down to Federal Way. We originally thought they were filming some action movie, but then as we kept going down the freeway, there were just more and more patrol cars flying down towards Cascade.

Kinda sketched out that the gunman is still on the loose.

Scary and supposedly the shooter ran towards I-5 after the shooting and now is on the loose.

And the racial views and divide in the America has always there but it just took Trump to tap it into the angry, expose it and bring it mainstream. I wouldn't sit here and point the finger and say America is fucked because same thing could happen here because there are a lot of people up here who also share similar views albeit not as extreme as the ones you see in America.

Montreal Gazette claims shooter in custody.

Also said that he went in, went out, came back 10 minutes later with a weapon. There's a possibility that it was a targeted attack and not random.
