Hi all, we found a lost small dog in North Burnaby this morning near Winston and Phillips. Please pm me if you know how we can find the owners.

Im being purposely vague on breed of dog bit suffice it to say it is a lap dog.

Have you taken it to a vet or the spca to see if it has a chip, or looked to see if it has a tattoo?

No, literally found it roadside as we were headed out for errands and kids minor hockey practices. Have it safe in a crate and will do the SPCA thing once we're free for the day.

Good luck! I hope you're able to find their owner :)

Me too! It's a friendly little dog and I'm sure someone is desperately looking for it.

Haha ok the details... First off it was a female chihuahua that we found running down towards Winston Avenue which as people who know Winston would imagine, the dog would have been road pizza in short order had it made it there. Between hockey practices, I had the kids make "Found Dog" signs and posted them near where we found her.

I called the SPCA and left a description of the dog and my phone number, as I didn't have time with an afternoon full of hockey (3 ice times) to go home, get the dog and bring it in.

At around 7:30pm we got home from my daughter's final hockey practice of the day and I couldn't believe I hadn't had a phone call (could only check my phone intermittently as I coach both my kids teams and was on the ice for 3 hours myself that afternoon).

I said to myself crap, I have to prepare to keep this dog overnight and take it to the SPCA in the morning. Luckily, I have a 4 y/o female labrador so have lots of doggie things around the house including some small dog food that I occasionally supplement my lab's food with when I've worked her hard and figure she needs some extra calories.

Any way, I decided that surely someone must be out looking for this chihuahua so I put her on a leash and carried her back to where I more or less found her and started asking neighbours if anyone recognized the dog. 5th person I asked DID and pointed me to a house, so I rang the door bell and presented a shocked lady her dog. She hadn't noticed it missing until after the SPCA was closed for the day.

I'll try to figure out how to upload a pic here in a sec....
