I could pull some dashcam e-brake turns I was doing last night, but I think I'll save myself the embarrassment...

What kind of tires are you running? I don't bother taking my m out when it's snowing I can't even get out so I just stick with my x5

LOL that's awesome. A few of us made a circuit that we followed last night and main goal was to stay sideways as much as possible driving that circuit. [emoji51] So MUCH hoonage last night.

Blizzak LM60 which are "performance" winter with bias towards dry/wet. So far they're fine. But it gets dicey to start on that heavy snow on a moderate incline. Last night was great. The snow was dry'ish and I had no problem climbing hills where a majority of cars were stuck at the bottom!

Thanks for the video. I used to love heading out in the snow, especially up to SFU. Put my snow tires to the test, e-brake turns etc.

I realize that now when it snows, I like nothing more than keeping my car safe in the parkade. And whenever I am driving when it snows, all I think about are the morons around me without winter tires, praying they don't slide into me before I get to my destination.

Got old I guess.

So last night was a pretty edgy experience if any of you were driving in the snow. I came out of Richmond Centre as the snow starting to stick and then watching Richmond drivers play bumper cars on Alderbridge. I kept my distance and never put myself in a "no exit" situation should the person behind be wearing 5% tread life all seasons. Drove to the airport to pick up a friend and bring him to Aldergrove where the roads got more and more dicey with cars in places I didn't know cars could get to. My traction was completely fine but after I dropped my friend off so I could get to Coquitlam, I dumped my tire pressures to 28 and more or less made my own lanes in the snow. Highway 1 was a disaster and any lane change resulted in having to plow through a snowbank barrier separating the lanes. M dynamic mode was on so I could slip sideways, spin and power my through each lane change without slowing down. What a nutso evening!!

There was so much snow that my headlights barely melted the snow fast enough off the lens. Luckily my HID fogs stayed hot enough in that little glass housing to keep snow clear.

Take it from somebody who works in a tire shop in Richmond... For every car that comes in for new tires, a solid 4/10 will be past the wear bar. It's absolutely deplorable

Wow!!! That's slightly surprising. How does insurance work if you crashed your car and you have no tread??

You may not be found at fault, but I believe icbc can drastically lower your payout/coverage

Directly from ICBC website

"No. Driving without winter tires will not void your insurance if you have a claim. It also won't mean you're automatically at-fault in a crash. However, if you get in a crash where winter tires could have helped, not having them may affect whether—or how much—you are at fault."

My friend who was opposing me last night and going eastbound on the Port Mann:

"Barely cleared the bridge yesterday. So glad I took the right two lanes. Then went into jerk mode and rode the shoulder past everyone who was stuck. And took every side street home. People should not drive with incapable tires and incompetent drivers..."

LOL
