Wow his waterpump lasted 400,000 miles. And some ppl change them with the timing belt service.

$4,329.17 US repair/maintenance?

Most people would be like...fuck that, that's more than what the car is worth, I'm gonna just sell it.

K24 has a timing chain. The water pump is serp belt driven and outside the timing covers. You just wait till it leaks or the bearings go.

People only change it with timing belts because its easier to change when you are in there on those motors and its cheap

But if a pump can last 400k that's 2 or 3 belt changes that you can do before actually needing to change a pump.

Shops upselling their customers because they're in there already and using fear of having it breakdown to make the sale?

Not really looking to argue here, cuz I'm guilty of changing the pump at the same time with the reasoning that I'm already in there.

My buddy had one of these tsx and it went through rotors like crazy. I think maybe 4 rotors in 6 years or something insane like that. I'm surprised this guy at 500k didn't go through that many.

Isn't that pretty much the case with nearly all Hondas and Acuras? I swapped my front rotors out on my TSX as soon as I got them as the stock ones are terrible.

I can't let my wife find out about this TSX or she'll never let me sell mine.

Honestly brakes life depends on the driver more than the equipment. If the driver goes Vmax between each traffic light, you will wear out the best of all brakes.

When he reaches a million miles, Acura should throw a big party and gift him a brand new car.

But then, maybe Acura don't want consumers to know that their cars can last that long or else they'll never but new one every 5-7 years.

I guess having a manual tranny helps too. Engine braking and all that

It's a 5 speed auto. I guess only the V6 Honda automatics had any issues.
