Hello, I am going for my class 4 restricted road test. Has anyone done it? what do I need to practice and remember? I heard the test is similar to class 5 is that correct?

The driving portion is very similar to your Class 5. The big difference with the two tests is your ability to do a complete pre-trip inspection on the vehicle before departing.

Not when I took mine. You need a class 4 vehicle. A 14 pax van with one seat taken out is a Class 5 legal vehicle, but suitable for the class 4 test.

the road portion is exactly the same as the class 5 except you need to honk when reversing.

It's the pre trip you have to worry about, thats the hard part because you will have to memorize it and perform it

so I can't use a toyota prius or any other hatchback for the restricted test?

-Make sure you're always look at your side mirrors so your not on the line

-When you make turns at the intersection make sure there are no people standing on the curb

-Get out from your vehicle if your unsure if you have enough space to back in

Just worry about your pre-trip

Driving wise yes it's similar to your class 5 license but be more aware of your surroundings.

But the most important part is definitely the pre trip. Check out the link below, it should make a decent reference in terms of pre tripping a vehicle.

I believe if you use a regular vehicle then you are only eligible to get your class 4 restricted. If you use a van you can get your unrestricted
