Dealership scraped my R8 what to do?
Manic!

My Audi R8 was at the dealership to get the clutch replaced and they ended up scraping the front. The damage is small but it's there. They offered to buff it or to repaint it. If they repaint it they have to repaint the whole bumper. What should I do?

lol, buff? :fuckthatshit:
This isn't a paint scratch. The plastic's scuffed up. This isn't a corolla.
Act like a stereotypical pretentious expensive car owner and demand a new bumper.
Now the damage itself looks pretty minor, and you're probably not an asshole, so it's up to you. But I believe you have every right to ask for a new bumper if you do go that route.
Also, not sure how good the painters are at dealerships. I would get them to fund you to get it painted at a good autobody shop instead. They probably have better painters.

Wreck your car in front of the dealership with your best golf clubs
Bring a loudspeaker.
Works everytime. :troll:
All jokes aside, bumper replacement for sure.
That will definitely not buff out

This happened to me when I had my BRZ. Scraped the front on the curb all across the whole front. They booked me in to get the bumper repainted. When they drove the car back to the dealer they did it AGAIN but worse FailFish. They ended up switching front bumpers with a new same color BRZ they had on the lot.

lesson learned, don't burn the clutch in an R8.
:troll:
replacement bumper or a lawsuit for replacement bumper and legal fees - let them pick.

I'm assuming it's the Nanaimo Volkswagen dealership since Manic lives in Nanaimo.

Soooo who's R8 is it? If I had an R8 my dad wouldn't be picking it up from a dealer... :suspicious:

The dealer is 90 minutes away in Victoria and my Dads friend had an appointment so he got a ride with him.

Dealership is Audi Victoria.

Considering this damage just occurred the fastener sure started to rust rather quickly.

New bumper if the dealer bites and I owned a R8 V10 for a few months and never understood why Audi didn't add a lift option. The nose is surprisingly low.

The V8's are in that range but the V10's are still above $100k. I believe Manic! has a V10.

I'd rather touch it up myself and demand a case of beer than have a claim on my R8. Its the bottom side of the bumper. You are in for a fucking body shop nightmare if you go the new bumper route and its a dealership paying for it.

Finally! A logical response. The dealership made a mistake, they are admitting it. That scrape wouldn't justify a new bumper.
However, I'd request to bring it to a shop of your choice though. Get a written estimate done, and make sure the dealership approves/pays for it.

This.
This route will also avoid a claim on your R8

Maybe get them to pay for a front lip that might cover it up?

Looks nice, but wouldn't that lower resale value, especially if the bumper isn't fixed up? Unless the next owner doesn't notice of course..

why would he have a claim on his R8?
Dealer is willing to repair it, not going through insurance

The dealership has insurance and will use it to pay for the bumper. They are saying it would require a new bumper if they go a certain route. The still have to pay Audi for that part and I bet an r8 bumper isn't cheap. They also likely have to pay a body shop unless they have their own at the dealer.

^ this. i'm honestly a little surprised at how many people would automatically jump to the entire bumper cover being replaced as the best/most logical resolution. it's a plastic bumper cover that's been gouged up. in what world is it logical or realistic to replace the entire bumper?
i do agree with what truenosan said re: getting it done at a shop of your choosing though. bring it to an r8 certified repairer (they aren't a dime a dozen) and get the dealer to foot the entire bill, including a courtesy car for the few days they'll need yours. as long as they're willing to do that, i'd walk away happy if I were OP
fact of the matter is most dealers don't have in house body repairers/painters and sublet any and all bodywork out anyway. only catch is you don't know how reputable the place is, so better off making all those arrangements yourself (despite the inconvenience) if you want to ensure your car is in the best hands (your own)
