For ridiculous shxt like this, I don't understand why the newspaper blurred out the 2 party crashers' faces. FailFish

Given Vancouver's small social circles, there has to be someone who recognize these 2 cheap idiots.

Just two middle aged ladies with only $2 million in the bank account trying to make a living here. Let them have some free food.

It's okay, these parties usually throw out 2 whole fresh slice pizzas and half the cake because its full of fondant. :lol

I'm surprised the people in the party didn't notice them, they could've picked up a kid and be long gone before they realized a kid is missing.

These greedy ass fools are making Chinese Canadians like me look bad!

-miserly, cheap, and greedy. These are some of the words I hear from people about Chinese Canadians in the Lower Mainland.

These scumbags just feed the stereotype!

Forget about the Surrey Creep catchers. We need a Richmond Cheapskate Beatdown Crew to scare these leeches away!

Seriously, how low can people be when they steal food from people who are soon to be parents????

Was just reading the comments on the story. I'm ready to fly off my condo tower now.

Something similar happen during my friends baby shower at a Vancouver community centre a few months ago. An elderly couple walked in and claimed to be lost and looked dazed, they both sat down and asked for some water.

A guest at the shower felt bad and gave them water and they sat around for a few minutes and as they were leaving they decided to grab some food, pop cans and candy and put it in their shopping bags. Someone at the party noticed and tried to follow them out but they were gone. Can't trust anyone nowadays.

I'll be the first to admit that way back in ugrad when I was a piss poor student, I would always try to make it to any of the on-campus public seminars to hit up the free pizzas and pop. Tech company recruitment / info sessions were the best because at the time, the IT field was still all the rage, and they were totally willing to splurge on both free food and swag.

But hey, those were totally open-to-public events. Crashing in on private parties is quite a different matter.

One time me and my friends walked in to a resturant and there was no table left as they had a wedding in the other side

Long story short, we didnt know and sat at the wrong table, but they nice enough to let us join them (we were quite embarrassed)

My friend decided to sing them a song on stage to show them our gratitude and i sent them a case of wine with a box of cigars the next day

And now they invited us back for the baby shower as we are now friends

Probable still happens today but years back people use to sneak into Indian wedding receptions to get a few drinks before they headed to the club. With 500 to 1000 people who is going to notice.

dude who was interviewed walking a dog is a sales guy from acura richmond

talked with him when trying to buy an ILX for my mother

guy is straight up scam artist and never mentioned anything about the big crack on the trunk. Wouldn't even say if Acura would fix it or not. Car was used and previous owner was a smoker.... very noticeable inside and never said anything about why their dealership didn't vacuum a fucking car that was sitting in a lot for a couple of months.

later in our "talk" dude straight up avoided any technical question and gave a bullshit answer and was CLUELESS ON VEHICLES

prices on cars are pricey in richmond, never buying cars in richmond again!

yeah it was kinda scummy to look confused then proceed to bag food

but was your friend going to confront elderlies?

I'd go confront them.

Don't give a fuck how old you are if you're pulling shit like that.

There's an old Chinese woman that walks around our neighborhood stealing flowers from people's gardens, and not just like clip a few bulbs, she pulls the whole plant from the ground..

She was trying to uproot a fucking shrub from our friends who live two houses down literally crawling on her stomach reaching under the fence, told her next time I see her ripping our flowers she's going to regret it.

Ballsy. Going into the picture booth and everything. If you're gonna be a criminal be smart and discrete about it without a trail.

IF it were me, I'd hit and quit. Never stay long enough to fall in love with a random girl and go to an island for a family vacation where Bradley Cooper will take you down.

I would confront strangers without hesitation, especially at that kind of venue with kids, and I wouldn't be nice about it at all

For all you know they might help themselves to the food, and then help themselves to a toddler on their way out.

Then again I am pretty vigilant... if somebody tail gates me into my building, I flat out ask them to see their key. I don't give a shit who they are, or how they are dressed... pony up the key or I call security. Some people get offended, but whatever.

Wedding Crasher Rules #7 Blend in by standing out & #8 Be the life of the party. Problem is they looked like a couple Nerdy Dykes and weren't at a gay bubble tea house so blending in was hard to achieve.

ain't nothing wrong with that. the people that would get offended are the people that would let nefarious people in.

I admit I sometimes tailgate people in, but i'm always ready to show ID if necessary.

i don't know, the chances of food-freeloaders seeing opportunistic child abducting seems extremely unlikely

quite the supervision fail at a kid's birthday party if that does happen

i know it's just an example but free-loading at an event in public space is a bit different than trespassing private property and stealing plants.

I'd say the scare is the other way around -- they're primarily looking to grab a child, and prior to doing that, they're pretending to be free loaders grabbing food.

twitchyzero

yes that's a legit concern in OP's story
elders as child snatchers? Maybe they're more common than I thought...but i've never heard of it before.

Traum
06-28-2017, 02:06 PM
I'm not necessarily thinking elders as child snatchers -- though if it were to happen, I wouldn't be too surprised. I'm more thinking of people similar to the 2 geniuses that have their pictures taken here pretending to be free loaders for food when their real intent is to snatch a child. I don't recall child snatchers having a common look in particular.

You make it sound like it's so hard to beat up an old lady. Bam! One kick to the knee and the bitch is down.

:fuckyea:

Srsly though, I had some old fucker yell at me in traffic last summer. I let a car merge, and he cuts up far past where the lane ends. Traffic is stopped and he yells at me through my open window to "are you going to fucking let me in?". Uh yeah, no..... you can eat a box full of dicks. Funny thing is, the guy had to be in his 70's, and not in very good shape. He was freaking out as he merged behind me, throwing up middle fingers and honking his horn. After about 2 mins of this I walked up to his window and kindly asked him to calm down. It must have freaked the old guy out, as has was rolling up his window while I was approaching it. Now, at no time was I planning to strike an elderly person. But enough was enough.

Bottom line, don't let your mouth write checks that your ass can't cash.

Lol the confrontation alone will have them asking themselves if the juice is worth the squeeze. They probably got away so many times that they forget theyre stealing lol. On the other hand maybe they get an adrenalyn rush from doing this sorta thing, like stealing flowers or party crashing haha. My buddy in surrey had the same thing happen with batches of flowers being stolen, so they installed 1080p cameras. Printed pictures of the person and posted them in the neighbourhood and it stopped lol. Public shaming usually makes them stop.
